I think I expect too much from life

I need to lower my expectation and accept a simple life.

Just enjoy the simple pleasures.

And, enjoy eating some quinoa, with nice accompaniments.

And enjoy the pleasure of compassion.

And have my friends on watsapp to watsapp.

And, the sun’s warmth on a park walk.

There’s nothing wrong with wanting more, but you have to be prepared to bust your hump to get it. It’s not going to fall out of the sky and bonk you on the head.

That’s true.

However, in my case, I know what I want, and it’s not more, and there’s nothing wrong with that either.

Nothing wrong with craving simplicity, either. Gotta do what tickles your pickle.

Yea sometimes it’s the simple things in life huh Zoe? :slightly_smiling_face:

There’s a saying. Whoever despises small matters will fail little by little. It’s really the small things that make up the majority of our happiness, so best not to live on autopilot

Yes if complicated things will just not work out then why bother. As albert Einstein says, it’s all relative. Do I want a life that is complex and too stressful or a life that is simple but manageable?

I think I’ve been expecting too much.

What do you mean by not live on autopilot?

Hmm I just mean not taking things for granted. To truly open our eyes and see how much we really have. A lot of the time we think we have nothing and life is unfair. I have a phone which I can use to talk to my friends. I have food. I have water. I’m not in a warzone. I have money. I have a coat. I have an education. I have family. I have my health. I have both eyes. All my limbs. I can walk. I have a bike.

When we truly start to list all the things we have that we’re grateful for we start to see that that list is Far longer than we ever could have imagined. Imagine the life of a burn victim for example. Or someone who has down syndrome or Parkinson’s. How much suffering and difficulty they must have to go through. So many people are in pain greater than mine. Makes my problems seem relatively easy.

I’ve got an acquaintence who grinds me all the time because I don’t have a more expensive car. He doesn’t understand why I don’t buy one since I can afford it? Don’t need it. The one I have – which is already too much of a toy – is more than enough. I don’t think having a BMW would make me happier. I don’t see the point of owning things that aren’t useful or just to show off your wealth.
