I indulge in simple living.

It’s simple living that has helped me through bitter discontentment.

I love simple living as well. Before I turned Muslim I wanted to be a nun. I loved the simplicity of their life. My husband likes the simple life, too. Our house is uncluttered. Every time I buy new clothes, I have the urge to get rid of others, so that I never have too much. Eat a simple, healthy diet and try to save money here and there. Enjoy the small, simple things in life, like a cup of coffee or a walk on the beach or a bird calling in flight, or the moon in the sky. It makes life worth living!

As someone who believes in astrology it’s easier said that done for some. Of course the Leo and Aries like to live luxuriously and the Taurus loves financial stability. However, I, the Gemini, or the other air signs Libra and Aquarius tend to not be concerned much with material possessions. However I’m only on chapter 3 in Linda Goodman’s sun signs. But I recently had a great revelation about how the moon cycle influences our lives and how astrology makes great sense and I find it to be so true and believe it is our natural way of life to follow the moon and the sun and the planets as a way of shaping our personalities and calendar. I believe the month should be based on the moons cycle rather than these random 28/29, 30 and 31 day months. Sorry if this is off topic but I think it’s easier said than done for some. I tend to live a simple life and am very happy. I am very spiritual and actually took a course on Islam @Hadeda, I know they shun astrology but I find Islamic practices very interesting.

I just am not cut out for simple living. Too much potential. Too many commitments in my life. I’m a university student planning on graduate school, a Ph.D. program. I also lift weights and am a bodybuilder so my life is full of supplements and papers and psychological jargon.

I wish I could be simple, but I am complex.

Gandhi lived simple and was a national leader. Einstein had a simple wardrobe, a simple diet and a lived and a simple house. One of our Seattle Mayors lived in an old apartment building near China town and drove a Toyota. No limo… no butler… no mansion in the gated community…

I’ve always sort of seen it as what does someone value…

Some people want high priced status symbols sewn by children in dirty factories.

Other people want minimal objects and items… minimal clutter.

I don’t see living a simple life as being a simple person…

Well I am pretty Spartan in my style and rugged in my clothing, but I do not exactly live that simply. iPod, iPhone, cigarettes in a leather coated metal case with a metal skull and crossbones on it, King size bed, blah blah, lots of lifting supplements, but a rugged approach and utilitarian lifestyle. I need new t shirts, mine are really worn out.

I don’t exactly equate simple living to being a simple person, like in a deragatory sense, like calling someone a simpleton, more like my lifestyle being high maintenance. Old ass used car, cheap food, that is me, but I am expensive- high end therapy, camel cigarettes, lifting supplements, gym memberships, lifting gear, ect.- other than funding my masochism I’m actually pretty cheap. My car is an old sports car and it needs premium gas. It was years ahead of its time, it has a Bose sound system and sunroof and crap.

I am rugged but not cheap. I don’t wear fifty dollar shirts, I wear twenty dollar custom t shirts, I drink Fiji water exclusively, just kidding I think that’s a crime.

I now try to think more simply, although I had pressure sometimes but living Simply made my life less stressful

I feel like my life is too simple. I don’t work, go to school, volunteer, babysit my cousins. I barely leave the house. That’s all changing in 2015 though! I already applied to return to school for the Summer and all I need is one class to graduate.

Take care and happy new years!

No consumer electronics with hypnotic blinky LEDs? Sounds like a fate worse than death.

My life is actually pretty simple. My major commitments are a part-time job and one online class. My apartment is easy to clean. I have only three bills really which are automatically paid online each month. I only have to take my car to the mechanic occasionally. I have no dependents except my cat. I run errands at my leisure. I have a few doctor appointments each month. I am living like a “normie” if you look at it one way. I have manageable responsibilities.

Simple to me means not complicated rather than not complex.
Things and people who are complicated suck the life right out of me, who needs that?

I want to live more simply. Cutting down on expensives. Eating more simply. I think that will be my goal for the new year.
