I went to speech and language therapy as a young child as I had a severe lisp. I guess this was kind of like Elocution lessons as I would taught to pronouncing the word properly. I’ve alway been told I sound posh, not like the normal East Midlands accent here. In Rome early this month we were waiting for our flight back to England when we got talking to tow older Australia travellers and they remarked on my accent being clearer than my friends. I think it makes me sand out more and I try and downplay it when talking to people. I am from a working class background.

Do you like sounding posh?
No. Only in posh hotels.

Okay. It’s hard to change how you speak so it will have to do.
