I’ve been making a lot of mistakes and I got called in for training. It won’t sink in. I think I have a learning disability. I can’t cope with learning new things. Especially complicated things. This never used to be like this.
Maybe your meds dull your mind a bit. When I’m ready to work, I’ve decided to do a simple job that does not require an education. I have a Bachelor’s degree but don’t plan to use it.
So do I have a BA hons but things feel extra difficult these days. Plus when I’m around people I learn less I find cos I’m just too anxious.
She kept asking why I’m nervous. I can’t do anything about it it’s just how I am.
I get that at every single social job ice had. At the food outlet they said I need to be more ‘friendly’ ie talkative and smiley.
At the hotel receptionist job, I started crying cos the information was like an overload. To learn. And she was like getting annoyed why i was writing things down wtf. Anyway that trigered the cry. In front of her.
I don’t know if you have a learning disabily because u mentioned u couldn’t learn cos u was nervous?
Maybe it is an anxiety related thing therefore. I could be wrong.
I hope you find something that suits you, if anything for work. Otherwise, don’t feel guilty if you feel disability/bebefits suits you instead
Good luck with your next few steps.
It sounds like it’s your anxiety that’s causing you you to struggle the most. You should talk to a therapist and learn coping skills. That’s what I’m doing right now and it’s helping. Also, talk to your psychiatrist about it. I don’t take benzos but I found that 15 mg of Buspar 2x/day helps me. My friend takes double that, so if your dose isn’t helping, there’s room to go up in dose.
Can you talk to your employer about some accommodations @anon25873142?
Unfortunately because I’m zero hours I don’t have access to occupational health so I have to go through my GP. Don’t think they can do much. I’m should be booking 20 appointments an hour I only book 20 in 5. I’m really struggling maybe I need something less complicated.
Good luck @anon25873142
I’m gonna ask for a break for a few weeks so I can get my head together. I won’t quit just yet. Maybe when I’m ready to go back they can find me something else within the hospital. This contract was for 3 months I’m surprised I am still here on month 7,…
Yes maybe there’s something that works better for you there.
Or maybe after your break you will feel you can handle this current job better.
Either way, a break is a good idea
I think you must be doing something right if they kept you past the 3 months all the way to 7 so far.
Maybe you’re doing better than you think.
Honestly, I think that is a better idea. Employers do have a duty to accommodate us, so don’t be afraid to ask if you need legit supports.
