I want to see what the big fuss is about. Who here has read it ? Is it a difficult read ?
I listened to it on audiobook. I gave up about 70% of the way through. It was too boring.
But the 1980s movie is one of my favourite movies.
Also people are raving about the latest 2021 dune movie.
Yeah I heard about the new movie. Which is why I grabbed the book.
I love it and think it’s a classic and must read sci fi. It’s a little interesting and has some different ideas which makes it unique. The series got pretty weird in later books but the original is great. So I wouldn’t say it’s a hard read, it’s just different in it’s own way.
Btw I saw the new movie and besides some crappy dialogue it was pretty good.
I heard the movie (the original) was way better than the book. It’s one of the few times I’ve heard that consistently about a book made into a movie (that the movie is better).
I have not seen the new one nor heard how it compares to either the original movie or book.
I’m a big reader and can read a novel in a night. I could not for the life of me get into Dune.
Have never read the book. I found the new movie to be too long and lots of stuff going on. I lost interest towards the last 40 minutes of the movie.
I read the entire series as a child and haven’t felt the need to go back and read it again. They weren’t great to read. I prefer the movie.
I think a wrinkle in time sounds interesting. I haven’t heard of dune.
You and me both. When the book was first out, all the sci-fi readers said “oh man you gotta read Dune” to me it was having teeth pulled
The original book was good. I used to really be into science-fiction. I read about half of the next book but then set it down for 4 months. When I picked it back up I was lost and realized I needed to start at the beginning and read the original Dune again to know what was going in. It was a good book, but long and I didn’t want to go through it again so I don’t know the sequels.
