I want a baby. Can I stay on Abilify? Obviously I’d address everything with a dr first.

It’s almost always worth the risk to stay long antipsychotics unless there’s known risk to the fetus.
I chose to be on haldol while I was pregnant and for 2 years while breastfeeding because it has the most data to show that it’s unlikely to cause harm.

This is what Mommy Meds has on it. This is the (patient version, he uses the professional side) program that my perinatologist uses to make med recommendations. Based on this, I would likely feel comfortable staying on it during pregnancy and if you want to breastfeed.

Yes I’m still with him. But I don’t think I want a child. I think I just want a baby after I saw my cousins. So it’s not a good idea. Babies are cute but a lifetime commitment.

So… when I went to my doctor after getting pregnant they printed out some paperwork talking about the risks of abilify and pregnancy and all it said was it could cause the baby to have withdrawals for a couple weeks after being born.

I came off abilify when i was pregnant, they closely monitored me. I seemed fine, until i wasnt, and then went back on for the remaining few months.

@anon25873142 if you like babies but don’t want full on responsibility, then why not just volunteer to babysit some or work with small kids? Maybe that will be helpful
