Just got out of the hospital from a weeks stay trying to get me stabilized on new medication. Got put on Geodon now and honestly things have never been quieter(other than when they have me haldol that is)
It feels so good to be out and in the real world again get now everything is changed. Lost my job and now I must move 2000 miles back home to live with family for a while.
On a side note my new diagnosis is now schizoaffective disorder.
@Mentaleclipse83 Haldol really knocked out the voices and paranoid thoughts for me but I had a severe side effect of my neck muscles contracting and difficulty swallowing so I couldn’t continue on it unfortunately.
@Mentaleclipse83 Cogenten took the neck problems away but the psychiatrist was still concerned about it so we switched to Geodon, it seems to be working well enough for me so I see no reason to go back to Haldol, at least for now anyway.
Hope the geoden works well for you! It’s better to try the newer antipsychotics as extrapyramidal symptoms should be less so it sounds like a worthwhile change!
I know it’s tough but living with family isn’t a bad thing to get your stuff together. Changing meds can be a big deal and much better done with support!
I’m sorry you lost your job and have to move. That’s just awful. But on the bright side, it’s a chance to start over. New starts can be good, a chance for improvement.
I have always wanted to try Haldol. Now may be a good time coming off of Geodon. Last time I was in the hospital a shot of Haldol and a shot of Antivan made me feel alright for a few days.
