I love where I live

But

There is no contract

Meaning she could raise the rent whenever

Though she told me she wont

How to let go

Stop worrying

I thinking of praying for myself and this house.

Hope that’s not too religious.

It’s just concentrated thought.

I really love this house…,

You’re talking about your new house?

Yea it is a terraced house.

Shared accommodation with 2 other peeps.

Just renting, not buying it

It’s good you like it so far. Is it close by stores? Does it have a washer and dryer?

Mae if she told you she won’t then that’s a verbal contract.
It’s not iron clad, but you can now worry 50% less.

Is your flat furnished? I’d love to see a photo!

It has a washer. It has enough space in the fridge for me… Which is rare.

It has all the types of stores I need nearby. Enough.

I like it

It is not luxury.

But to me it is.

Except I need to feel confident that she won’t raise the rent.

Cos there’s no contract.

I will post a photo when I’m less paranoid about someone discovering me

Thanks for the support.

Hey that’s understandable. Have you met your roomies, and are they nice folks?

Yea they seem pretty alright. The guy seems alright and the woman I hardly ever see. She seems to be mostly working or in her room.

But they both seem okay

Thanks for asking.

You never know. She may raise it; she may not. If she’s a halfway decent person she’s not going to raise it right away. Maybe a year down the line. But if something came up and she needed money, who knows what she’ll do? I wouldn’t worry about it; every place I’ve lived in didn’t increase rent until I had been there 1-2 years. And then it was only by $25-$50 a month, not a small sum but not a huge sum either.

I’m paying my top budget allowance for it.

So I really can’t afford any rise in rent.

Anyways I don’t think she will within a year.

And that’s how I’d like to spend the minimum amount of time there.

:))

Some more reassurance, it would cost her money to get someone new in to replace you, and if you are a good tennant who pays on time and doesn’t cause many complaints then she will want to keep you. Getting someone new in is a costly gamble for a landlord.

That’s true.

It’s just that over time, rents naturally go up everywhere.

I hope she doesn’t raise our rent though cos it’s high enough tbh…,
