I like being on Latuda

I take Latuda and if I’m not able to get to sleep the effect it has that night is bad akathesia. Tonight I took it at six and went to sleep at nine till twelve and it ran through my system so I’ve little akathesia tonight which is technically tomorrow. I just wanted to make this post to say it’s a good med, not too sedating or hunger inducing and that it shouldn’t have a bad rap because some get akathesia. I believe at this point of taking aps I have akathesia because it’s been 35 years. Latuda is also a mood stabilizer and I’ve been on every one. I don’t believe I have TD. If I do it’s mild.

How long have you been taking it?
I had this at first. I would really really want to get out of bed, and then I would feel super tired once I actually got up and tried to do something etc.
But now its died down Ive been on it a couple of years.
Its not uncommon for me to move one of legs against the bed up and down. For some reason I find that comforting on this drug (didnt before) but I no longer feel like I have to get up in the night.

I’ve been on Latuda for a few years.

I’m interested in the mental world as opposed to there being an external reality. I have to perceive it for it to be there, right?

I’ve been on Lurasidone (Latuda) since 2019.

It doesn’t affect my appetite or sedate me either.

It did give me akathisia so I take Trazodone to counteract that.

I’ve been very happy with it.

I was on Latuda for a while and I had no side effects but not enough improvement at the doses I was at. Once I hit 120mg it made me throw up every time I took it so I had to stop

I was on this drug about 5 years ago

They just switched me back to it, but the pharmacist wants me to go on a super high dose and I am not on board with that

Going to try and stick to 74mg.

Don’t want it any higher than that, but we’ll see what happens, as the future is not set yet

My doctor wanted to put me on 80mg, but I felt great at 60mg so I refused. I’ve had no hallucinations or delusions on that dosage.

Across the pond the dosages of Latuda are different. Here in North America they come in 20mg increments. You’re on a little higher dosage than me but not by much, good luck with it.

Yeah, I am not sure why they come in weird doses here, but I will stick to as low as possible

I was told that 128mg? is the equivalent dosage compared to the 800mg Amisulpride I was on

That seems stupid to me

The pdoc sold it to me by saying 74mg was side effect low for me before, yet the pharmacist seemed intent on going much higher.

We’ll see what they say on Tuesday after Easter, as I am getting sick of the medication changes

I told my pdoc I’ll stick with 60mg for the time being because I feel fine, if, and only if, I have symptoms I’d be willing to go up to 80mg. But I never had symptoms since I started, so I stuck with 60mg.

Not to hijack the thread, but what do you all do for food when you take the latuda?
I started off having a Huel or small snack, but it made me eat way too many calories.
Now I have it with dinner, which is better but sends me to sleep early most of the time.

I am taking it in the morning with calorie rich milkshakes

My eating is not too great so rarely do I have a proper meal

It’s going to take time to adjust to it again

I take 60mg a day split into 2 doses.

30mg with breakfast and 30mg with dinner. If I take 60mg all at once the akathisia is too intense. Even at 30mg I have akathisia but I take Trazodone with my Latuda for akathisia and it is completely gone.

You have to take Latuda with at least 350 calories.

It doesn’t make me hungry or sleepy, no side effects at all accept for the akathisia problem which I solved with Trazodone. I take 50mg of Trazodone with my morning Latuda and 25mg of Trazodone with my evening Latuda.

@Joker @Headspark
Does it not make you feel the need to sleep?

I may try it with a milkshake tomorrow morning for once Joker.

No, it doesn’t make me sleepy, but it might make you sleepy. These meds effect everyone differently.

But I’m only on 60mg/day and that is split up twice a day about 10 hours apart, 30mg each time. Being such small dosages each time could be a reason why I don’t have sleepiness. The only side effect I had, and it only started about 2 months ago, is akathisia, other than that it doesn’t have any other side effects. No appetite changes or weight gain.

What dosage do you take? If you’re taking a lot more than me that could be a reason why you get sleepy. Maybe do what I do and split it up. Take half with breakfast and half with dinner. Taking smaller doses twice a day may allow you to avoid the sleepiness side effect. You’ll still be taking your full daily dose. My pdoc was fine with me doing this. If you do attempt this experiment and it works be sure to tell your pdoc what you did so s/he knows.

Unless your milkshake is close to 350 calories you should probably have more than just that, or have a really large milkshake.

I did say milkshake, but I actually meant meal replacement drink huel. which is 400calories (I started buying them due to the amount of calories).

I may try splitting it up TBH - its not a bad idea.

I take 37.5 mg which is considerably less than you.
