My doc prescribed me to take 2000mg of depakote and 50mg of zyprexa. I was noticing extreme weight gain and trouble waking up. I have been taking only 1500 of depakote and 40 of zyprexa for about 2 weeks now. I see my pdoc today and I’m scared that she’ll be mad that I adjusted my dose on my own. Is there an easy way I can tell her why I adjusted my dose?
Just tell her the truth. You can’t sleep all day. Zyprexa has that effect.
The weight gain is also a serious problem.
Just be honest. She won’t be happy, but I understand why you did it, and she will, too. Weight gain can be a serious issue.
Just a little side note, but Geodon has been totally weight-neutral for me. Abilify and Latina have been weight-neutral for others. There are other options out there.
I’m only on 750mg of Depakote but I know what you mean.
Depakote makes me feel sedated and feeling flat.
Your doctor may understand, but next time I would call her up and at least leave a message with her explaining your intentions.
Good luck
In my experience a doctor would rather you lower your dose than increase your dose.
Go to the doctor with some of your family member, answers were given by them. I usually do it.
