I have kept up an exercise habit for 3-4 days now

I think I feel a bit better because of it. I will definitely continue being more active.

what exercises do you do?

I do jumping jacks, squat jumps, skates, running in place. I alternate between those. I will also experiment with adding some light strength training. I noticed that I cant gain muscle as easily on APs, but I will experiment with going light on the exercises and see if I can slowly build up strength.

It would be amazing to have a skipping rope in your case! you could later do some boxing shadows/heavy bag training (if you want to invest into it)

Does anyone know more about this difficulty to gain strength on antipsychotics? I don’t know what causes it.

But I know that when I bought my laptop and started sitting on the couch with it, in the beginning I got tired in my neck from staring down at the screen. But it went away after some time. So that leads me to believe that it’s possible to strenghten your muscles even on APs. Cause that must be what happened with my neck - it got stronger.

So I will take it slow with the strength training.

Strength gains are pretty linear and easy until 1x lean body weight bench, and around 1.4x squat 1.8 deadlift (some people say even more)

You deffinetely can do it with a caloric surplus and good nights of rest.

It doesn´t take too much time either, but it´s not easy to hit the gym to make a personal record 3x a week.

-caloric surplus
-9+ hours of sleep
-very good technique doing the exercises
-smart weight increase (2lb for bench, 5lb for squat and dl) each workout
-motivation and commitment.

This is a video of a 72 yo man getting coached. You can see exercises are extremely technical and require a lot of body awareness.
