I have a new life ambition

My new goal is to complete an Ironman triathlon once in my lifetime. I’m 26 so I have plenty of time left(I hope) to achieve this goal. I grew up with my dad competing in Ironmans and I remember how much fun it was watching them. This year I’ve started running again and am doing a half marathon in two months with the full intention of doing a full marathon later in the next year. I did short triathlons as a kid growing up and I thought they were so fun. I want that again. Now this goal means certain things have to happen. I have to move into a larger apartment where I can store a bike, I need to get a car to be able to transport that bike to trails and to races. I’d start small like a sprint distance triathlon then Olympic distance, then a half Ironman then finally a full Ironman. I’d like to make it a 10 year goal. I think that’s reasonable. I’m almost 27, so by 37 I want to have completed a Ironman. Do you think this is too ambitious??

A tinman is very similar to a half Ironman

I have never lost my ambitions to race bicycles and motorcycles. I am trying to lose about 35lbs of fat to start with.

I think you can do it 100% if you take training seriously.
Doing a marathon and then a tinman first is a great idea. You’ll need to train almost every day and follow a diet pretty stricly, one of my friends did it and he told me he had to eat an insane amount for months on end (he had a personal trainer)
I’m sure you can find online what you should be eating and doing.
Good luck !

Can you hang it from the ceiling perhaps ?

There are some tricky solutions for that

Can your dad or someone with experience coach you? Also, some APs have an impact on the cardiovascular system and it might be dangerous doing an iron man on them.

I’m not thinking right away, like some years down the road so I have time to figure out everything. I’m able to run 9 miles on my current APs right now no problem
