Both are young, ages 40 and 42, and both are dying from liver failure due to alcoholism.
The 40 year old also needs a new kidney and they put her in an induced coma. She was turned down for a transplant.
The 42 year old also has wernicke’s syndrome from the alcohol abuse. She no longer knows what’s going on around her. She’s 100% delusional.
It’s so sad. They’re so young

That’s tough @LilyoftheValley. Sorry you’re dealing with this right now. Hopefully, no matter how small that hope may be, hopefully things work out. My sister-in-law died in the ICU yesterday. She was a pretty terrible person, but her family (and my wife to a much smaller degree) has been really upset about it, so I empathize. I think it can be hard to say goodbye to people whom we’ve had a difficult relationship with nonetheless.
Sorry to hear about that @LilyoftheValley . I have lost three friends to booze and drugs myself. It’s not an easy thing to watch.

That could easily have been me.
When I went to AA I thought alcohol was worth dying for. I just got lucky with AA and they helped.
Wow @everhopeful. You would have chosen alcohol over life? I’m so happy for you that you managed to quit. What a turn around success story.

Sorry. My best friend’s mom also has wernicke korsokov syndrome. It is not easy to watch someone live with.
