Managed to lose my Samsung Galaxy S10+ in a lake last weekend. Long story, but let’s just point out that the flotation device didn’t work as advertised. I’m also now in favour of public execution for anyone who owns a power boat.
Took delivery of a Samsung Galaxy S21+ 5G yesterday and have been trying to get it back to where my old phone was. Not impressed that it doesn’t take a MicroSD card. Assumed it would, but didn’t check to be certain. Now returning a surplus card to Amazon. Derp.
They moved the buttons to locations I don’t like. I don’t like where the camera is on the front now. It’s larger than the last unit, and I already found that too large. Trying to recustomize my ringtones is annoying as hell. I had backed off the previous config, but it won’t restore all the way.
I use my phone a LOT, so I need it to be just right. And I do mean right. I’ll probably spend the next week fussing with the stupid thing.
I bought a “renewed” (yes, I’m cheap) Samsung Galaxy S9 recently from Amazon. The first one they sent me ended up being “buggy” and wouldn’t even let me access the phone with my PIN so I ended up sending it back and getting a replacement. So I ended up doing the setup twice.
I don’t really use my phone that much though so I’m not too picky about the settings and whatnot. I mainly use my computer for most things. I only really use my phone for the occasional picture and the very rare text or phone call. Oh and my “Stash” app.
Good luck getting your phone customized to your liking pixel.
Phones are so complicated these days. I dont know what i would do if i lost it, cos all the apps for the bills are on it. Im due an upgrade next month - but im just gonna go onto a sim only plan and keep my S10.
I read most people use less than 50% of the functions on their phone. I probably use 15%-20%. I want to change that and learn more and get my moneys worth–that they conned me out of. I usually have to make phone calls on my days off to take care of business.
Yeah, same. They have this system in Korea that automatically downloads all of your old apps from the old phone to the new phone. But usually it’s all mixed up and I have to organize them again. While I like getting a new phone, setting it up is complicated.
My main interest in my old phone was its excellent camera system. The new phone has marginally improved on it, but the changes are nothing to write home about IMO. They seem to be more software than hardware.
I’m still really honked off over the MicroSD support having been dropped. This will likely be my last Samsung because of this, and I’ve been a faithful customer for them.
My most hated part of the phone is the phone function itself. I’ve had it for two days and I’ve probably already blocked over 20 numbers. It’s the age of text, stop @#$%ing phoning me, I’m not going to talk to you. I only have it so I can call out to 911 if I go down. If you want to reach me, email me.
I use my phone a bit for gaming. Will be using it a lot more when I finally get my Oculus 2. It appears that I can run not only Supernatural, but also Beat Saber from the phone. I figure I’ll be set. My main use for my mobile is as a highly portable camera. Here’s me writing about my S10+, which I loved:
I looked at those, but couldn’t find anything that worked with my carrier (Telus) and they all took too long to ship. I managed to find a certified pre-owned S21+ in new condition for less than half the price of a brand new unit, so that will have to do. Still think I paid way too much, but, I wanted the camera.
Thankfully all of these apps and their settings restored properly other than re-entering a couple of passwords I keep written down and locked in my fire safe.
My other main uses for my phone are:
Medication tracking
Exercise logging
Reminders/scheduling
Running home automation (Alexa)
Listening to music (usually The Squirrel)
Watching streaming video from Netflix, Prime, Plex, etc.
Just wish it were possible to set the phone to outgoing calls only.
Oh. So this will allow me to move the volume buttons that are irritating me by physically being on the right side of my new phone over to the left side like they were on my old phone?
About the time I do I’ll get another phone. I don’t do change gracefully.
Polite disagreement. The best phone I’ve owned so far sleeps with the fishes in a nearby lake. I already miss it terribly.
It does. I’ve configured it and limited calls to those on my fave contact list. It will frustrate my wife as she has her phone set to block sending her caller ID, so she can’t reach me now. She’ll have to re-enable that if she wants to phone me.
