I get my payslip every Thursday, and then get paid on Friday. I looked at my payslip on Thursday as usual but I had made a little more than what I was expecting, I figured my hours had been added up differently than what I thought I worked, I didn’t really pay attention to the details, I just looked at my total earnings.
I just went back and looked at my payslip again and the reason why I made more than I thought is because I got a 5% raise. My hourly rate on the payslip has increased.
I’m shocked. My manager never spoke to me about this or my performance. With every other job I have ever had, prior to a raise the manager would always take me aside, talk to me about my strengths and weaknesses and then offer me or negotiate with me a small raise. That didn’t happen this time.
I know they expect a 95%-100% efficiency rating. I must’ve achieved that, and based on my calculations I am most definitely above that. The calculate that rating by packages delivered per hour. They expect 10 packages delivered per hour and I usually beat that expectation.
The strange thing is I am only in my 5th month of working. I’m not even out of the probationary period yet. That won’t happen until the end of October or beginning of November. Once I’m out of the probationary period I get an expense account and other benefits.
This is the most I’ve ever made at a job. I’ve been on disability since 2004 and while I am thankful for it, it doesn’t pay a lot. I started working in May so maybe this year, but definitely next year my personal income should surpass the poverty line for the first time in 17 years. I’ll no longer be poor but lower middle class, woohoo! lol
I like my job and it’s nice to have some extra money.
Really cool and congratulations. It’s nice to find some work that agrees with you when you’ve sz. If given the right conditions I think that most of us can thrive in competition even with the so called normies. For me that job was working in a bookstore in the States. I loved that job and was rewarded which made it all the more special for me.
