I feel lonely in the media

There are so many mental health stories coming out now. Selena Gomez is in the hospital for anxiety and depression. I am just wondering when will schizophrenia get the sympathy. I wish we had some public support, but since there are no celebrities championing our cause, we can’t get any public sympathy or attention.

Yes I know. Schizophrenia is still the shunned mental illness. Anxiety and depression have got more acceptance and support but not schizophrenia. It sometimes feels like we’re the lost cause. Nobody supports us because they don’t believe they can. We’re seen as too crazy. All we can do is support each other. I find other people with schizophrenia more sane than some supposedly sane people.

It’s hard to remain a celebrity or become one if you have schizophrenia. Plus people fear the stigma that comes with it.

I doubt schizophrenia will ever be appreciated by the public because of how anti-social we appear. For example, withdrawal, paranoia, sensitivity, poor social skills, and not being friendly to others. Not to mention the totally incomprehensible rejection of reasoning with delusions. The best I can hope for is love of family, therapists, and a few friends.
