I don't like it when new icons just appear on my computer

It all feels like an intrusion.

After both my mom’s and my computers internet went out earlier, I checked again and hers was working and mine was not. So, I cleared my cache and restarted my computer.

On restart, my internet was working again, but I saw a new rainbow colored icon on my taskbar. I looked to see if new programs had been installed and there was none showing in “add or remove programs”.

After some investigation I found out it is a preview of a new microsoft AI called “Copilot”. There is also a button to get Copilot Pro, which I checked out and they want to charge me 20 dollars a month for that.

Anywho, Just wanted to express my dislike of them putting stuff on my computer without my permission in an attempt to make money.

What do you think about this?

Here’s the what comes up when click on icon :

Microsoft is really bad for charging for everything now

The icon leads to a pot of gold. For Google, not you.

Seems like a ms update. Its pretty typical.

If you dont like desktop icons make a folder and toss them all in a folder

Remember when Office came with computers?

Thank god Google Sheets exist. I’m not paying 200 a year or whatever nonsense for the holy right to be able to use my computer like an official CPA.

The thing I hate the most is OneDrive. They intentionally have it copy massive chunks of your hard drive to fill up its space with things you dont need, then spam you with “upgrade your storage space for 5.99 a month” screens over the next several months until you go insane or figure out how to disable it.

If I want to back up my files I’ll use a 10 dollar thumbdrive yeesh
