I don't believe in antidepressants for negative symptoms anymore (in my case).

I tried them all, SSRI, SNRi, TCA, MAO-inhibitor, Nothing worked longtime (MAO-i gave me one and a half good year before it pooped out)

I won’t take antidepressants anymore, i’m not better off or worse without.

I know some of you have benefits of AD’s and good for you - of course, every individual, body, is unique, and they might work for someone else.

Same, I used them for negatives; it helped a little but not long term

Wellbutrin helps a little, but only a little. Diet and exercise and therapy help the most.

I think you should try energy drinks or caffeine and taurine pills. Natural things. I agree with you, antidepressants don’t work in many cases. They haven’t worked for me.

Be careful to check with a doctor on this. I’ve been weaned off most caffeine now because of irregular heartbeat.

Yes they don’t work. Only thing Fluoxetine did was give me a panic attack.

I’m off all of them now too

I think only celexa and prozac work for negative symptoms.

Yeah I was put in fluoxetine for obsessional stuff. I think it has helped some of my negatives. On a high dose of 60mg a day though.

The dry mouth it gives me has done a number on my teeth though

Zoloft has helped me a lot. It helps with cognitive and negative symptoms. But I know, it’s not good for everyone.
Best regards.

@Nirvana - strange, but in fact Monster energy drinks helps a bit, it got lots of taurine, besides that i drink lots of strong coffee, thanks.

@MIDO - i would love to try atomoxetine, it makes sense if it works for the negatives, but since i’m not having ADHD i don’t think my psychiatrist would give it to me

I take citalopram (Celexa) but not for negatives. I take it for depression, anxiety, and PTSD.

I believe I will need an AD for life because every time I’ve gone off them, I’ve ended up in an extremely depressed and anxiety ridden state within 1-2 years.

I intend to keep taking it for life.

It helps me find meaning in living.

Glad it helps you, i wish i had the same experience. Sometimes you have to accept being on meds the rest of your life.

In my experience, the last 14 years, Celexa works great for depression. But doesn’t work at all for negative symptoms, which are not the same things.

I had severe negative symptoms a few years ago. I had to practice doing things. I never used to enjoy warhammer (I do now) never had any pleasure in reading or tv shows (I do now) each day I spent doing a few minutes at a time doing something. And over time I began to enjoy it. It’s re training the brain.

True, and glad you found a cure for your depression. You can of course have a depression without negative symptoms and the other way around, but I know from my own case how hard it can be for the psychiatrists to tell depression from negative symptoms
