It feels like it’s coming to an end.

I am scared to even walk down the street to buy cigarettes.

I feel like this stuff in Syria is going to start WW 3.

I agree with @Chrishasheart that the world is coming to an end.
I am not scared though.

That’s good. I suppose all we can do is “hope for the best, yet prepare for the worst.”

That’s what I was taught when I was in the military at least.

People say that we live in violent times but when you compare the relative peace and affluence the majority of the planet live in to another century maybe there is a different picture. 24/7 up to the minute media on everyones phone has a lot to answer for.

It’s more shocking to me that even with all this stuff happening we are living in the least violent times in the history of humankind

The news is very depressing. Watching the news makes me grateful for my delusion. I believe it’s all fake and the ‘real’ world is much more peaceful.
although the videos and pictures are pretty convincing…

There are things that I can control, and there are things that I cannot control.

I choose to focus on things that I can control.

Well we are going to see more terrorist attacks across the globe. There are many radical islamists that resort to terrorism and recent events have caused an influx of people to countries that would do such an action. I wonder how many terrorist attacks other places like china have. Still terrorist attacks aren’t that likely. So as an SZ suicide will still have a better chance of getting you.

It was nice to wake up in this morning here in my little peaceful town. But I was thinking about the past events during the night and I must say that sometimes it might be better not to watch the news. The situation in Europe is quite alarming. Within the short period of time there have been these bad events in these following cities: Paris (2, France), Nice (1, France), Brussels (1, Belgium), Berlin (1, Germany), Istanbul (1, Turkey), London (1, UK), Saint Petersburg (1, Russia), Stockholm (1, Sweden) and maybe some other events. I suppose it is ok to be a little paranoid.

I am not afraid. I won’t let the terrorists win. I go on living my life as planned. Freaking out is the last thing to do. I belive in democracy and freedom of speach. I will not give in for terrorism. Even though it came really close this time. Really really close.

My son was going to city but decided to come home when I offered to pick him up with my car at school. This was one hour before the attack. I also have a friend who was there. So close so close but he did not get harmed.

Yep, it is good not to be afraid. I am living quite far from any metropolitan cities and so I expect that nothing really happes here, the biggest problems are with people who do things when they are drunk, DUIs and things like that.

Do you live in Stockholm, @Comatose ??

I live in Romania. There was one Romanian citizen among the victims of Stockholm attack

All a person can do is all they can do in their in lives in that day. Stay informed of the news, vote responsibly, and in those times between elections get involved in your community. If everyone worked to make their communities better, we’d ALL have a better world.

Actually, I sometimes take a “news fast” for a few days (this term was coined by Dr. Andrew Weil). I just avoid watching, listening to, or reading the news so that I remove that source of stress from my life.

Thanks for the new term (‘news fast’), I become selective in reading news nowadays.
