I changed my medication to aripiprazole but I'm psychotic

Hello, I said here on the forum that I had started taking an antipsychotic called equilid but it left me psychotic, Now my doctor has agreed on three new medications to take, (Propranolol 40mg) (Ansitec - buspirone 20mg) and (Lithium 600mg) The problem is that I am taking aripiprazole (Abilify) 10mg but the voices are not coming out, I am hopeless regarding antipsychotics as this is the only one in the price range that I can buy, Ziprazidone is very expensive, the voices are more aggressive and they sound like demons, they say very bad things to me and they don’t stop, I have been calm with them because now I’m taking medication for anxiety (Ansitec) can anyone tell me what dosage of aripiprazole can remove these voices?, I no longer have hope in relation to antipsychotics, It feels like I’m dealing with resistant schizophrenia.

How many antipsychotics have u tried? U prob wont find the right one til u try a lot of them. I wouldnt give up yet if you havent tried at least 5-10 of them.

The maximum dose of aripiprazole (Abilify) is 30mg /day. The minimum for schizophrenia is 10mg. So you could ask your doctor about raising your Abilify dose.

You have taken clozapine and it didn’t work? Like most others won’t work on you since that’s the most potent antipsychotic

You have tried most of the good stuff. I see why they are trying this though. You might need to augment with 2 aps if you get into the 20’s and it’s still not turning the volume down on the voices.

Sheld mixer. I was out in the dark for 24 hours because I questioned if I was in my right to advise anyone here because of my misbehaviors 2 days ago. and finally I’m stable on 750 mg Seroquel.

As I can see it you can go 3 ways.
I think that 10 mg Abilify is a very very low dose. You could go as high as 30 mg with few issues.

If that doesn’t work you could let your doctor combine two antipsychotics.
I feel well on two antipsychotics

Lastly you could ask for Amisulpride Solian if that one is available in your country. Studies made show that it’s the next strongest antipsychotic next to Clozapine.

Yes, I took it for 1 month but I had to stop because it made me very sleepy and I gained 20kg with it.

Yes, I’ll talk to him at the next appointment, in terms of age I’m 22 years old, when I was 16 the voices weren’t that bad.

Thank you very much, I will ask my doctor for two antipsychotics as it seems that my schizophrenia has worsened over time as there was a time when I had stopped taking the medication. The problem with most antipsychotics is the side effects of drowsiness and weight gain, sleep doesn’t allow me to do anything and weight gain is a problem as I’m already obese. I am a person very sensitive to side effects, one question is how do you tolerate them? Does sleep hinder you from doing your things? My biggest problem with antipsychotics is sleep and I’m tired and I can’t do anything.

Haha I can’t tolerate the side effects either which is why I am hoping the new medicines that’s about to be release are as good as they are in clinical trials, ulotaront and karxt

Shield I was forced awake by Ziprasidone for 20 years, so I do really welcome the sleepyhead from my meds.
No weight gain on the two very very good.
If you got the two side effect you mentioned I don’t think that you can avoid them on two Antipsychotics.

I’m on 5 mg for anxiety

I take buspirone 10 mg twice a day. The anxiety and the voices are a nightmare.

In fact, it’s very good to sleep with the medications, with aripiprazole I can’t sleep at all, I wake up every hour, The problem is sleep during the day, I get very drugged and can’t do or concentrate on anything, how can you handle that? Are you sleepy during the day? Can you do your things during the day without lying on the couch to sleep away? I sleep more than 14 hours and I still take naps during the day to get out of sleep.

3 times a day for me

I can’t understand why these medications vary so much from person to person.

@shield_mixer , I find that aripiprazole is not a very good antipsychotic. It made me even more psychotic in fact. I’m a treatment resistant sza and I find that the best antipsychotics are Risperdal and Seroquel. In fact I take all three: Risperdal, Geodon and Seroquel.
