For those on abilify how long until the voices lessened or went away? I’ve been on it for about a week and the voices have lessened to a degree but I’m only on 5mgs

Sounds promising. Everyone is different but it seems the way that you need to be on them for a period of like 6 weeks minimum. Hope you continue to get some good progress!

I’m nervous though, what if it stops working like the haldol did? My case manager hasn’t said what is the next step raise the abilify or find another med. She called the pdoc today like she was suppose to but didn’t get an answer

Meds stop working sometimes. Nothing you can do about it. Might as well take advantage of a med while it’s working, though.

I just worry a lot they said this and one other med are my last resorts. I hope to hear something tomorrow from my case manager or the pdoc

I never heard voices but I’m on abilify.
Beware of abilify 5mg. 10mg is the minimum dose for schizophrenia.
5mg works as an antipsychotic for about 5 weeks then poops out. That’s what the clinical trials say. So don’t be fooled into thinking it would continue working long term at that dose.
But meds are all personal trial and error so I hope it works out for you.
Also it takes 2 weeks for abilify to reach a steady state in your body.
It actually took months for abilify to bring my psychosis under control the first time. But I was really acute.

I want the voices gone completely and I hope abilify is the med to do it. I didn’t know abilify as an antipsychotic for sz the minimum dose is 10mgs.

me too like everhopeful i dont hear voices but i have had other symptoms and have been on 15mg of abilify involuntary now im on abilify maintena for negative symptons (dx)

What were your symptoms of psychosis? Any racing intrusive thoughts?
5mg probably wouldn’t have done it for me, I’m on 20. Voices and delusions drastically lesser now. 5mg is more of a non therapeutic dose for sz, that’s more the dose for depression. Tell doc you’re still hearing voices. Ask about a therapeutic dose.

A few moments of psychosis, anxiety still kinda high but intrusive thoughts have lessened as well. I mainly wanted voices to go away.
Have they? Mine are all inside my head when I wake up. And they don’t make sense… It scares me
How long did it take to lessen symptoms? I’m on week 6 and I have bouts of symptoms.
I know it varies, I was after a week then it got better as I took the medication. A friend of mine after just a few days was voices free.
What did you experience? We’re you delusional? Memory problems?
I was delusional. Living in a dream world.
