Meditate on your breath right before sleep.
Read a book (offline, don’t look at a bright screen) for half an hour before you want to go to sleep. Not an exciting book - pick a dense history or something like that, something that interests you but won’t leave you aching to know what comes next.
Block out what light you can - red glowing lights from electronics, stuff like that.
Try listening to rain sounds or something similar if there are noises in the hallways where you live.
Warm milk really does help.
Keep your room cool in the evening - make sure you’re not overdressed or have too much bedding.

What you can do now is change the sheets. Have a shower or bath. Turn off the computer and tv as it’s a stimulant. Turn on some relaxing music and no caffeine.
Some sort of sleepy time herbal tea helps
There’s sleep aid music on YouTube
I forget the name of it but there is a pod cast where a guy explains his day in the most boring way possible for hours. It’s designed to help people sleep. It’s become popular.
Melatonin (talk w/ your doc)
Read about Quantum Physics, the papers written by scientists. Slows down my thoughts & tuckers out my brain. I’m not a math person though.
Melatonin is good and cheap. Maybe pick some up from walgreens if you live in the us.
If you are a light sleeper or get frequent bouts of anxiety/insomnia the fine point is to try to slow down your nervous system well before your usual bedtime.
Get a ‘chill out’ routine going so that your mind knows it’s time to back off and lower the adrenalin. Plus, it trains the mind to refocus onto wellbeing and letting go. Our mind and nervous system is plastic any ways and totally changeable.
Relax your body and mind for half an hour by learning to soothe self with a baths, showers, self-massage, or slow movements. A few paragraphs of light reading or listening to some relaxing music can take your thoughts off anything that’s making you anxious. Eat some of your favourite comfort food, but not too much as eating sends the blood circulating into your digestive system and digestion = staying alert and no . And make sure your bedroom is cool rather than warm.
Hope you get some sleep
