I can never relax

I’m always tense or hyper vigilant, even when I’m lying down on the couch or in bed getting ready to sleep.
I can’t seem to relax, I’m constantly in a state of anxiety, paranoia.
Anyone else like this?
It’s just not natural.

So sick of being this way.

i often feel this way during daylight hours, i just can’t relax until it gets dark outside, it’s like i put pressure on myself to be productive or something during the day, and also it’s noisier during the day cause of the road.

Sometimes. I used to be like that all the time before Cymbalta. It’s exhausting. I really feel for you. You can’t barely function that way.

I can’t relax either, in spite of no anxiety or paranoia.

The only time I relaxed that I can recall is when I had an accidental opiate high.

Have you tried L-theanine? It’s like a wonder supplement for me. It stops my mind from taking over with distressing thoughts.

I only recommend doctors best L-theanine after trying lots and lots of brands.

Or from iherb:

I recently cut my dosage of it, and ended up being like you described. So I’m back on my previous dosage of it now.

If you’re desperate, then it’s worth a go.

I can’t ever really relax either. I’m always tense and nervous even without anxiety or paranoia. I’m like constantly agitated, always either pressing or picking my lips, shaking my leg, rocking my body back and forth or pacing to and fro. I suspect that nervous agitation is just part and parcel of having MI.

Thanks @Leaf @everhopeful and @SkinnyMe

I have a PRN - Klonopin but I can’t take it everyday @Leaf
I don’t want to risk addiction.

@everhopeful I don’t have a good track record using supplements.

I’ve had adverse reactions from them in the past or have become manic or depressed from them.

I can relate to what you experience @SkinnyMe

I’m exactly like this. My partner says I jump at the slightest sounds when I’m outside. I don’t notice it much as I’ve always been like this.

I find it hard to relax, even if I meditate.

“Well why don’t you just relax!” - that’s the response my therapist would of told me :joy:

I hope you can get some peace wave. Anything to slow down your thoughts process could help

Yeah thanks @LevelJ1
No matter how hard I try to relax, I’m always on edge a bit.
Some days are better than others.

Yes. I’ve been like that for as long as I can remember. I cannot be calmed down no matter what people try. The only thing that works on me is massive doses of Ativan. So naturally, I’m only treated on an emergency basis. In fact I had a completely normal day today and I feel like I’m dying. Sucks to go through so I understand.

Mental hospitals have tried me on grounding techniques which don’t work on me at all. Or mindfulness or any other Buddhist crap. When you try telling professionals that their treatment isn’t working they don’t believe you until you have a massive panic attack. Because apparently mindfulness works on everybody and there’s no getting it wrong. I’m living proof that it doesn’t and sometimes doctors and counselors don’t know what they’re talking about.
