What constitutes as a “relapse”, some voices here and there? I hear voices daily. Don’t be a baby. You can toughen up and just deal.
I don’t want to discuss it any further.
Im on a diet and cant loose weight also. Im on a diet to keep my weight if i would have normal meals i would get fat quickly. It sucks. I could eat all i want before meds and not get fat.
Thanks for answering!!! That’s what I am talking about!!! About 3 years ago, I was on a diet for 2 months (!!!) and didn’t loose one pound!!! And as soon as I stopped it, by eating what an average adult eats, I gained 12 lbs and then got on Topiramate to stop gaining!!
Weight gain is a problem with antipsychotics obviously. If id eat befere meds like i eat now id loose 3 kilos a month at least. I know because i lost 16 kilos in 6 months before meds. But now my weight stays the same if im lucky.
I understand you very much. I have also lost weight without meds, and I was judged by people like I was here by other people who haven’t experienced this: Being on a diet on pills and not being able to lose weight…
Rose - it is easier to lose weight without the meds … but I need my meds.
I have lost weight slowly and steadily over a span of a year or so.
If you walk at least half an hour a day and restrict your calories a bit - eating less carbs and processed foods - you will lose the weight.
Do not expect fast results or you will be disapointed - weigh yourself only if you feel that you have lost some weight or twice a month or less.
If you stick to this, eventually you will lose the weight - it takes some time.
Drink enough water everyday
Like I said previously, there was a time I had with two months on a diet and not losing any weight, and after that I got 12 pounds. I am in that kind of period right now, I must be on a diet just to maintain my weight for some months. I can’t lose. I 've experienced it before. And as I said, if I exercise the first month I will get weight because the fat will turn into muscles and I will be more hungry. I just wanted to see if anyone has dealt with this and how did it stop…
i am eating a little less - low carb, walk for 30 min a day - sometimes more and drink pleny of water - this is how I am dealing with my weight gain.
But whatever works for you …
I am on Risperdal and 2 other meds - it is possible to lose weight while taking these meds - but I am not expecting spectacular results
I weigh myself almost every day. At the morning naked hungry and thirsty, right after i wake up : ) If i gain 0.2 kilos i react quickly. This is how i keep my weight.
Yeah everyone has their own method - good for you @Mmister
I get where you’re coming from red rose. I’m on haloperidol and latuda and I’m having a hard time losing weight. Yet for the month I went without meds I lost 12 pounds. I cut out soda for the most part just one every few days. I’m cutting out junk food and I’m walking more. Still nothing.
I’ ll pm you right now.
I have the same problem. I have steadily putting on weight and eating less than I had in the past. I go to the health club 3x a week and still nothing. I keep putting on weight.
Thanks for replying! It will be over, don’t worry too much about it, but for now we have to have patience. I wonder if anything good will happen to us, the illness affects us in everything.
niece illness effect all of us…but again u keep trying some other thing like slimming tea…etc etc-but don’t have to worry searching for option .focus on health…and…recovery… fruitful discussion on forum…
and i request @admin and web page creator to put a direct option 2 ask our question to psychologist psychiatrist or psychotherapist… if they consider …
the forum would take its new leap towards new era…thanks rose…
I think I am going to try doing what my fellow nerdy friend did. He weighed himself every single day for a couple months and graphed his progress.
.
Daily variations are a bit discouraging but his long term trend is losing 0.5lb per week.
I am also working on developing a very fast speech based Calorie counting app for Android phones and tablets… It is still in beta but so far I am losing about 0.9lbs a week using it along with daily weighing.

yes Risperdal is a great drug but it does cause weight gain. I incorporated the asana practice In my life to help with this issue, also helps many other things as well.
It seems like a good app, maybe I try it, thanks.
