I agree with the topic title.

I rather enjoy human rights and the advancements in gender/racial equality and am a strong supporter of these ideals.

Oh and religious freedom/tolerance is a plus.

Also it is not illegal to be gay.
(Note: I’m not gay but having gay relatives and friends, knowing that in some countries they could be executed is saddening.)

For whom Americans fight?

You all fail to understand something that’s so obvious to the world. I know why you fail and what’s going on but let’s focus on one thing.

World doesn’t need Empires anymore. Western empire is the last empire in human history! Last one! If USA disappear tomorrow, the world would adapt. Can you grip these three statements?

No-one is perfect, but America is doing the best. Their advocacy of personal freedoms is really pushing things forward.

If the US were to disappear, there would be a world communist state, and it would probably become neofeudalist, with landlords and politicians being the protected classes who receive all the political favour.

Everyone else would be given a progressively eroding quality of living, with wages facing a race to the bottom as the region (not countries anymore) with the lowest wages outcompete the other regions.

Tyranny and corruption would become institutionalized, and the common man would have zero means of airing their grievances, as their votes would count for nothing in the world court, and they would have no means of revolting.

I take offence to this, what’s wrong with Russia?

I’m serious :upside_down_face:

I was born in the late USSR, I mean it’s not the best country in the world, but its definetly not the worst.

One of the worst, definitely. It’s a violent dictatorship run by oligarchs and propaganda.

There was a third world war, it was just not televised and it wasn’t your typical; let’s invade countries and kill people type of format.

Not a dictatorship in theoretical terms, more like some kind of democratship, but yes - you described USA my friend. I’ts USA.

Here is the thing: Korea’s GDP rose substantially high; now we are at No. 28. Financially, our family- like most families- are financially stable and many people attain university education.

But we are at the lowest in welfare out of OECD countries, highest in suicide rate in OECD countries, etc.

So…not necessarily GDP/PPP affects one’s standard of living, really.

But I take off my had and pay respect for the American soldiers who gave up their lives for other countries’ freedom, and that is in thanks to the American soldiers in large parts during the Korean War.

Didn’t that ā€œfreedom warā€ caused partition of your nation? And war crimes and traumas to the world on a mass scale?

It’s completely bonkers that you think USA is more run by oligarchs and propaganda than Russia.
