I am afraid I will never be able to see a pdoc

I don’t have a pdoc since Jan 2021. I recently requested one a few weeks ago and they just called me this morning saying they will call again in 2 days to do a 1hr phone interview about my symptoms to see if I qualify for a pdoc. I am afraid they will never let me see a pdoc just for negative symptoms as Drs ignore these. They only care about positive symptoms which I don’t have on meds. Should i stop my meds and be hospitalized to see a pdoc or should I tell them I am suicidal? Won’t they lock me up if I say I am suicidal? I am not suicidal btw

Can your general dr or a nurse prescribe you vraylar? They can do that here

No they can’t here its why my general dr referred me to a pdoc but he wrote in the referral that its for sz negative symptoms. I wish they did.

Edited because I should not be advocating such.

Edit: If you read before edit, I still think its a better idea than going floridly psychotic to achieve your goals, just not something that I should recommend.

The emergency is at least 4hrs wait and they will probably just send me home after seeing me as normal and they won’t care about negative symptoms. I think I will either lie and say I have positive symptoms or tell my family dr to write I have positive symptoms.

Go to a therapist and get them to refer you direct.

Isn’t it the same?

No thats how i bypassed the wait and screening process.
I was on a 1.5 year wait.

Started seeing a therapist and on the 2nd visit she made some calls and got me referred to see a pdoc within 6 weeks.

Now i have a gov pdoc that i can make an appointment and see them within 5 days or even the next day if its serious.

I let her know about my psychosis and the negative type of symptoms which she didnt know much about but understood depression.

How come you’re not released of psychiatric care and I am. I think my psychiatric system is different than yours.

I have no idea. Maybe a question to ask why you got released?

The pdoc said I am too stable to need a pdoc.

Yeah ive never heard of someone being released from their doc so im not sure how it works.

If you go the route of that screen call, embellish your symptoms if you need to. You deserve a new pdoc.

Could it be an idea to mention the positive symptoms you have off-meds in the interview?
Be honesy that off meds, those things happen, and some meds made them worse. And that the one’s you’re on now keep them away, but the negatives are killing you.

Yeah I haven’t seen any consultant about my mental health in over year and a half, but it’s kinda unusual in your case cos your in the states. I always get the impression they follow up every few months.

I am in Canada.

Sorry I forgot @Aziz but it’s not on when your struggling and access to care is so difficult.

Same in the US.

Feels like once they stabilize your positive symptoms - they move on and push you aside.

You have to see a doctor to get meds. This doesn’t make sense
