There’s always something wrong. I’m sick of it. Always allergies, headaches, colds, IBS, acid reflux and my feet and back hurt and the list goes on. I hate getting old. At least I don’t go to the doctor for every little thing anymore. But jeeze I just want a break from feeling like sh*t all the time.
Do you have hypochondria?
I think so, but I had this doctor that helped me with that and I seem to be much better now. I think I have health anxiety now. Before I always thought I was dying of something and I would go to the doctor for a cold.
I think I understand. I don’t know if I am a hypochondriac or if I am losing my mind. I have started having nerve pain down my leg again. It started small, only when I had been driving for a while, but now it is whenever I am sitting up. And my bones and joints have started to hurt at night. It started with my elbows over a year ago, and I ignored it. Then my hips started hurtin. Then my knees and ankles. Now my shins and forearms, the bones, just radiate pain each night. It wakes me up. I go to bed crying at night now. I went to the doctor last week, and they are doing some tests, but I wonder if it is all in my head.
@Happy_H The thing is this - Even hypochondriacs get sick - so you have to get it all checked out. I’m sorry you’re going through all that. If it is somatic then it will go away eventually, until then try to relax and take care of yourself the best you can.
If I don’t practice yoga for 35- 40 minutes every day, I get serious musculoskeletal pain from arthritis all over my body and it hurts just to be alive and breathing. If I do my yoga, I am in no pain and I feel like a 25 year old. I’m 58.
I’m a big Hypochondriac.
I can become delusional from it.
Hypochondria is the core of my illness… it makes me have false memories and everything
Have you been eating many sugar free foods? When I was working at a summer camp that serves a lot if sugar free foods, so I was eating a lot if fake sugars, I started being in a TON of pain, just like you described. As soon as I stopped eating fake sugar almost all the pain went away.
I also have several other pain conditions, though, so I don’t know if it was a singular problem or if it exacerbated another preexisting issues. Either way, watch out for fake sugar.
No, I don’t eat anything sugar free. I do have a full thickness chondral defect in my left knee that is large enough that my orthopedic surgeon wants to do an allograft on it (I won’t do it because I got blood clots from my last knee surgery). I’ve had back problems and back surgery. But never this kind of problem.
Sorry, @Leaf. I’m not trying to steal your thread.
I’m definitely a hypochondriac. Every time I had a weird symptom, I would Google it and assume the worst thing possible. I had a bunch of pregnancy “scares” because I would totally misread symptoms and stuff. I had a therapist tell me to stop Googling things and to see a doctor if I had concerns about health issues.
I now just live in a perpetual state of feeling like SOMETHING is wrong but not knowing what it is.
Edit: And now I forget to let doctors know about certain things because if they aren’t happening to me RIGHT NOW, they seem to disappear in my brain as worth mentioning.
The internet is the worst at giving medical advice. According to it, I have bone cancer. My migraines are a tumor, too. The net likes to scare you into thinking the worst vs. a real doctor who would rather keep you calm and assume the best unless proven otherwise.
I’m kinda the same. I’m always checking my skin for new moles, bumps, scrapes, and rashes. I freaked myself out once because I found cherry hemangiomas on my skin. Apparently They re nothing to worry away.
