HP: stupid new thing for tech support

My printer went offline so I called HP tech support. I expected they would get my printer back online over the phone and then take remote control of my laptop to sync the printer and laptop. Instead the technician got me on a video call where he could view through my camera on my iPhone. THEN, he had me hold the phone on each screen that came up on my laptop. WTF! It was totally awkward, I don’t know why they started doing that. I had to sit on the edge of my bed and balance myself and balance my laptop while I awkwardly held the phone and showed the technician all the buttons on my printer and then hold up the phone so he could see my computer screen. Why did they do this? It’s hard and impractible. Just got off a frustrating hour long call that didn’t even solve the problem.
