For those who got rid of their voices
How do you manage to get rid of them !!
Antipsychotics and niacin.
The voices started to break through my 12 mg max dose of Paliperidone, so I started taking large niacin doses, which have cut the voices down dramatically in two days. I feel that full sanity is a few months away, but I will have to take 3 grams a day for life probably.
I don’t buy the Dr. Hoffer adrenochrome theory, I believe niacin works due to increasing BDNF and nitric oxide in the brain, which gradually downregulate toxic extrasynaptic NMDA signalling.
I believe that is the cause of my symptoms, since I abused Piracetam, which greatly upregulated my NMDA receptor density and caused an imbalance.
@naturallycured Please don’t post unsubstantiated claims.
Mindfulness and labeling them, listening to music… Oh and having a loving gf.
I’m pretty much voices free atm, long may it continue…
Meds and distraction especially with music
Three antipsychotics: Risperdal Consta, Geodon, and Seroquel. A daily routine. And little to no stress.
I’m not sure if it was the meds or the meat, particularly fish. I gave up my vegan diet after my last hospitalization and the voices went away. I’ve read others having success by going to a keto diet as well.
anyways I’m back to eating plant based diet for longevity, no voices at the moment. I may end up with some voices but I don’t know if that’s the cause yet as I also consumed copious amounts of coffee when I was plant based.
as far as meds go, I’m taking invega sustenna. unmedicated I heard voices all day everyday but none for a year on meds and the diet change.
Voices can just ■■■■off today. I’m tryto have a good day
Bleh
I admit to dropping a fair amount of niacin, but for a bit of pep with circulatory issues (my circulation sucks). Zero effect on my voices. I love the niacin flush, however.
Also no effect on my voices, but it aggravated my diveriticular disease to the point of hospitalization. I can’t do keto.
I did that for several years. I felt it worked. But I kept having to take more and more.
Then one day my stomach couldn’t handle it anymore, not even one pill.
My opinion for it working was that I just needed something to believe in that would help as I was completely convinced it would work. So it was a placebo at best for me.
I don’t take it anymore. I still ocassionaly hear voices but rarely now after almost 8 years since I was first hearing them a lot.
Good info, thank you.
When you felt you had to take more and more, did the voices keep coming back? Isn’t it enough to just take it until the voices stop, then dial the dose down to 3 grams a day as maintenance?
Also, please tell me your age, if not exactly, then like roughly.
Basically I had another episode roughly a year after the first one. So I started taking 3 grams at 23 it wasn’t really working so I just took up to 5.
I still had a couple more episodes after that.
The first lasted more than 6 months, the other ones were weeks.
When the 2nd episode happened I just took so much of it to try and get it to stop which it eventually quieted down.
But it’s hard to know if the niacin quieted it down or if it was just the natural course of the episode.
I lean toward it just being the nature or the episode since I have been able to look objectively at the situation because I’ve been off it for a few years.
At the peak I took like 5 to 7.5 per day. Again I was 100% convinced this would work. It probably wasn’t good for my stomach lol.
I’m almost 31.
I’d say it’s more all the hard behind the scenes work I did on learning critical thinking, re evaluating all my core beliefs, taking a conservative approach to thinking processes (such as not believing in supernatural ideas) which protects me from going off the deep end.
My voices, fortunately, only happen from an external stimulus such as the noise from an appliance. If this is someone’s case, then turn off the appliance. People with delirium (from alcoholism or trauma) get better sleep if they settle down to bed in a dark, silent room. I suppose the same is true for sz hallucinations. I only know that right now, in the absence of white noise from without, my voices are absent.
This is only my method it may not work for u:
I take niacin which for me somehow just makes me not hear voices or atleast I just forget about them and am not inclined to interact with them.
I stick to a ketogenic diet which i did because of weight issues and also read that it can really help with your mood and reducing psychotic features.
I take fish oil everyday bc I read it’s really good for u, I don’t notice much of a difference but I just kept it up anyways.
I exercise about 1-3 hours daily or 5 times a week mostly now for the mental benefits
I take other supplements too, but I guess the rest of the help from no more voices (knock on wood) is from the ap I’m on.
Again this is just me, I’m not claiming anything unsubstantiated
I hear less voices when my computer is off for the night, but I sleep worse. Is it worth it to just go through the irritability of a few days of getting used to it, to have less voices? The voices have escalated for me recently, but that’s due to stressors. I’m trying to dial them back homeopathically.
I’m genuinely curious if anyone else goes through a “white noise withdrawal” like I do.
Kind of a catch-22, isn’t it? If you want your sleep not to be interrupted, then you put up with the voices. But it sounds like you’re leaning toward going through a little insomnia for the greater gain. So far in my own history, voices that sound external to my head only happen in the presence of a stimulus like a space heater’s or fridge’s noise (unless, of course, we mean real voices). They’re only spontaneous when internal.
Do your voices crop up much more when white noise is withdrawn? Sorry, but no, I don’t think I’ve had that. But an increase in voices with stress?: yes. I also hear with my left ear a sibilant sound often when sitting at my PC. It sizzles away like a sitar or something.
No, my voices withdraw considerably when the white noise is removed, it’s just that I have historically gotten irritable the first several days of trying to do that. I guess I kind of answered my own question. If I want to do a reset and lower the voices as much homeopathically as possible, I’ll have to turn off my computer.
