Japanese people have been obsessed with work and social status for so long, that neglecting personal matters like friends and families has become inevitable for many of them. Now they realize they have been digging their own hole. Birth rates have plummeted. Depression and teenage withdrawal from social life because of high expectations they can’t cope with (look up hikikomori) are now very common.
Now they think money can buy friendship and love? 
They are in for a rude awakening. I pity them.

Lol yes in China as well. Such obsession with status and children that they suggested I get a sperm donor for better results than my current boyfriend. I’m forever seen as a failure by my family till I get a high paying job and a house… But Chinese tend to have strong family bonds and most care about their children more than their children’s jobs.
