How to deal with anhedonia/avolition?

Everything feels like a chore. I have no motivation or drive to do anything. Even playing video games feels too boring and unrewarding. Is there any way to deal with these symotoms?

Good question, I’d like to hear some ways of dealing with this as well.

Hey man, I had anhedonia for around a year And it was mostly about video games, watching movies and tv shows. I took a break around 2 months ago from all of it and started reading books, exercising and socializing. Today I played Witcher and I ■■■■■■■ enjoyed. It felt like I was kid again. What I have found out is that when I do hard things like exercising, socializing and reading I carve small pleasures like video games and movies. Take a break and do harder stuff in life that you dont enjoy doing at all, let dopamine reset in your brain so you can start loving little pleasures again.

My pdoc doesn’t like my lifestyle and wants me to volunteer somewhere. I don’t agree to. She thinks I get everything I want and never do anything I don’t. And this is true but I am a sad person. I find a way to get enjoyment out of it and I never have to do what I dislike. I would say make plans, give them time, until you feel up to it. But it wouldn’t work if I were drinking.

Just try to keep your life varied. Don’t be a sad git like me and sit in front of computer screens all day. Thats my method.

Advice from here isn’t necessarily going to suit you. You got to find your own way.

The odd Jamaican rollup has helped me in the past tho.
