I believe in the system of checks and balances. I tend to be a capitalist, but I’m starting to wonder if socialism is a better system to address our modern problems. I voted for Ronald Reagan in 1980 solely for his policies on defense. I was in the army in 1977 - 81. Our military needed help. I thought Barack Obama was a very good president. I follow Emerson’s dictum: “A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds.” It is an axiom of philosophy that when you reach a seeming contradiction you must make a distinction. Because of that I am not afraid to contradict myself. I come from the middle of the middle class. Yay team!!! I watch some football, but that doesn’t take up too much of my time. Both OU and OSU were big disappointments this year. I watch some amateur wrestling on the internet. I do a little writing, and I’ve done a little reading. How about you? Do you have bedrock beliefs you cling to, or are you a pragmatist?
