For example I now have a therapist, vocational rehab counselor, case worker, go to schizophrenia support groups, and volunteer. What is your favorite source of support? Do you find it helpful?
I have none…only pdoc and therapist…
Support groups and this forum are my favorite.
Absolutely zero. Everything is spread out here compared to where I last lived. I would find it difficult to get to a lot of stuff without my stepdaughter coming with me.
I have a community mental health worker who is amazing and a pdoc. I use the community crisis centre when necessary. But no groups. I always mean to join one. Maybe they’ll have groups at the hospital
I have been having a nurse see me every 2 or 3 months to make sure that I am ok, but now she wants to do it by phone to save her coming to my home.
Oh, so you have started seeing a therapist? What kind of therapy do you do?
I have an appointment with therapist after a month…life is okay okay…
Now I just have a therapist and a pdoc. But I used to have a case manager, peer support specialist, and I was in the local Clubhouse for MI. Once I got my ssdi I no longer qualified for Medicaid, so I can’t do any of that anymore, but I do miss it. It helped a lot.
I have a case manager, psychiatrist, and academic adviser. I’d like to see a peer support specialist but I’m not sure how to go about doing that.
In January when I start my new course I’ll be connected to a disability consultant and walk-in counsellor, this is in addition to what I have now.
None.

The works. I’m just needing to apply for housing someday. Have to find a new therapist for that.
Waitlist is long here…if they even have one. And some of the places here are ghetto. But I’ve seen nice ones too. It really depends on your location. It was recommended to try voucher instead of subsidized housing…i think or maybe it was the other way around. I think it’s pretty cool that they try to get you set up for work and stability before they find you a place. The goal is to be completely independent. To do that takes years.
I think going to school, getting my college done, and getting my own job, while keeping benefits would be the best. I could do freelance work. Make like 800 a month and still keep my benefits. And maybe since I like programming and math it wouldn’t be too stressful and I would be really happy. And then work on losing weight and having a relationship.
I am a member of this MI and Veterans charity organization.
They provide me with a Case Manager and other services.
i have a therapist and a pdoc but i am on the waiting list for a case worker. i get food stamps and medicaid. i go to food pantries but my in laws claim most of the food. i did get some maple toasted bagels but i had to hide it from my in laws. i also got cat food from one food pantry.
