Now, I feel more normal than ever.
Partly because we quit many meds and kept 2 basic ones

Which ones are you on now?

Clozapine and haldol injection

The symptoms abated?

Yes, especially negatives abated

Good to know you are doing well.

I didn’t have negative symptoms to begin with.

What about cognition? Attention, memory, etc? I am suffering here and I am certain it is because of Clonazapem.

Last year I was flat, with severe negatives.
I was desperate. I was saying “I will be like this forever, there is no med for negatives”.
But like a miracle, negatives abated and got very mild

No attention, no good comprehension of instructions etc.

It may be because of the high doses, too. My doctor at least said that high doses can cause these problems.

Saphris is a good medication for cognitive function. I am going on it.

By the way I must add that, though at the top of his field, when he doesn’t have an answer, he says, some of it is the medication, and some of it is the condition. He always says this.

Are you on a Benzo?

I take 2 mgs of Klonopin. I am trying to come off it completely, but this medication is addictive. It is blunting my originality and senses. I can’t seem to come off it.

It should really be banned for its addictive potential so doctors can’t prescribe it.

No, my psychiatrist is against benzos.
But has prescribed a benzo just in case, if I am close to an episode, I should take it prn.
In the past, my 2nd psychiatrist was giving me big doses of benzos x3 a day.
When I quit it, I had a catatonic episode

My hand used to freeze sometimes. All the Psychiatrists kept on saying it is because of Schizophrenia. It turned out, that Vitamin B 12 was the problem.

I am gradually getting a great distrust of the methods of the psychiatrists.

I had a manic episode coming off the benzo. I am back at 2 mg.

I can’t get off it. Something seems to go amiss whenever I try.

2mg once a day?

It is 3 times a day. .5 .5 1.

How did you come off it?

I have not much anxiety, I think it is unnecessary.

Also in my case was unnecessary.
I was taking just because schizophrenia is supposed to cause agitation.
I knew that benzos are addictive, so I quit on my own, without his approval.
I had an hour long catatonic episode. Or something like that

But quitting it myself after taking it a long time can cause seizures.

I tried going down .5 in a week. Blood pressure dropped.

Then .25 in a week. A prolonged manic episode. Led my Seroquel dose back to max.

This medication shouldn’t be available.

Yes I think quitting it abruptly can cause problems. Ask your pdoc.
I didn’t ask, and I was motionless for an hour, couldn’t talk, couldn’t answer in the questions of my father, I couldn’t work, we were for work in the fields that day.
