thought pressure &
functional hallucinations. The 1st one has stopped with having regular meds via depot. The functional hallucinations still occur.
What is a functional hallucination?? I’ve never heard of that before
For me it involves hearing human like voices when the washing machine is on, or in the sound after the toilet has been flushed. For some others it can be via a fan .
I used to experience functional hallucinations but I don’t anymore.
I heard the devil talking to me from the fan when i was trying to sleep.
I have experienced the 2nd one before but mostly when I was younger. Never had the first one, though to be honest I didn’t much understand the explanation of what it was.
I’ve never heard those terms before. What is thought pressure?
I get functional hallucinations ( as you describe them) all the time. Are they a symptom of sz/sza?
No and no.
Been feeling rather well this past week. Almost normal, which hadn’t happened since the onset 7 years ago.
I don’t want to push my luck but if John Nash got better, why not some others too? Why not me?
I think I’ve kept a positive outlook for the better part of these last 7 years. What if that mindset alone is starting to pay dividends? I think Pedro once mentioned “beating” the illness by constantly flooding the mind with positive thoughts and affirmations.
@Andrey It’s great to hear that you’re doing well.
yea i’m wondering same thing.. i clicked that link but it doesn’t tell what it is..
I get functional hallucinations
See table 1 re thought pressure.
I tried to read table 1 and stopped.
Made me angry with myself for not knowing the words to describe these things to my pdoc this week
I said to him it was chaos, broken and random thinking and it was fractured
He asked me what I meant, and I just said to him I do not know what the professional terms are for it
Table 1 explains it pretty clearly…
@Joker Don’t beat yourself up. The first I knew of the term was a Twitter reply from
Samei Huda last year.
Sorry @firemonkey I always beat myself up over social interactions over things like this long after the event
Probably why I try and avoid things sometimes to try and reduce the input
I need to start using Twitter again to pick up on more stuff like this as it is actually good to know
Thanks for sharing it
I have functional hallucinations all the time. I hear voices from any kind of flowing water, the woosh from trucks driving by, fans, any kind of hum really.
I have functional hallucinations I also hear sounds that sound like something else for example a bird chirping sounds like a baby crying
