I have had about 20ish. No bullsh*it. I am 48. I have been on SSDI for a year since I am MI now, but I have had a crap-ton of jobs. I even had some of them for a few years. I have a job-hopper history big-time. I lose my mojo for the job and I begin to feel harrassed by coworkers and I leave. Terrible cycle.
I am in school now so , hopefully, I will be able to get my degree and get a stable career although there is something wrong with my braina nd that was true before I was delusional. I feel bullied, targeted and harrassed at every job I have had. Sucks. How many jobs have you had?
I’m 56 years old. I got my first job as a dishwasher when I was 17. I lasted 3 months. At that time I was probably in my prodamal phase. Anyways, after that job I had a string of about 16 to 17 jobs which never went longer than three months until I got diagnosed at age 19.
I was in group homes and hospitals for the next two and as half years before I became employed again. Since then I’ve had probably 10 different jobs. I was one of the best workers at some jobs other times I was pretty close to being the worst. Out of all the jobs I’ve had including before I got sick, I got fired from about 10 or 11 of them.
Post-diagnosis I had a couple of jobs that lasted 4 years, a couple that I lasted 3 years and some that lasted two weeks or a couple of months. Interestingly enough, I’ve been more successful in my employments after I became schizophrenic. And incidentally I have gone to college and been more successful and did better in school than I did before I was diagnosed.
Somewhere between 15 and 20. I’m 37 years old, been working since I was 16. Some of the job hopping had to do with having a job at college during the school year, then a different job during the summer. I’ve never had a real career. My current PT teaching job has been the closest I’ve had to that, been there 6.5 yrs. I’ve had 5 side jobs during that time, though three of them were for the same boss. I’ve been at my current side job for 2 yrs.
I’m currently pursuing other employment, as I am barely scraping by. Even if I just add another PT teaching job and keep my two current jobs that would be awesome, big financial boost.
I have had 1 job for now 3years but the different jobs IV had while being in the military is about 7 in 3 years and im about to lose this one not because I can’t do it (candy store) but im being moved in a couple weeks to a military phyciatric care unit until I get medically retired
I was in the military for more than 24 years. Had a lot of jobs. Sometimes as many as 5 or more at once. Too many to count so let’s say it was all just one. My resume looks good on paper but my illness keeps me in check these days.
Since I was medically retired I have had four different jobs and am currently a student.
I had pretty many jobs before working as a paraprofessional special ed aide/teacher for 25 years.
Worked in the Restaurant business as a Waiter- before this worked in the fast food industry etc…
I have had a few short-term jobs, mainly held in high school. I am currently employed, though–I’m a graduate assistant at my university. I’ll hold this for however long my boss decides until I graduate.
I tried to count but my memory is shite. I think it’s about 10. I’ve been at my current job for 5 years, which is the longest I’ve held a job for.
age 19 = 1 job, 1 year (cashier)
age 22 = 2 menial restaurant, delivery jobs overlapping for about 3 years
empty slot where I could not hold a job and couldn’t even get an interview…eventually went to intensive outpatient treatment clinic paid for by city and then got well enough to move to university, completed bachelor’s degree, entered Master’s program and worked about 3 different jobs during my 2.5 year stint at the grad program (I graduated a bit late).
age 29 = 1 job (telemarketing, hated it, quit)
later = 1 job, a few semesters (worked for university)
later that year=1 job, 5 months (worked for university)
age 33 (current) 1 job=5 months this April (paraprofessional)
just got a job interview as an instructor for adults but it’s out an hour away. i have an unreliable car.
So, total, 7 jobs, but there would have been many more if I hadn’t been totally off the wall psychotic in my 20’s. I’m just barely getting a footing on employment now that I’m in my 30’s.
The hazards of being sza, I guess. On the bright side, all that time gave me opportunities to volunteer and to study.
One serious job (projectmanager in a hospital). Before that several (4-5?) parttime and holiday jobs during high school and University to finance my studies. Like cashier or climbing instructor or cleaning lady. None since I got ill.
2 steakhouse cook jobs when I was young…the army playing with explosives ha yea they let my ass play with explosives… worked at fedex… helped with taking care of alotof cattle on a large farm… worked with a robotic welder in a factory…and last job did everything from heavy machine driver to sand blasting to industrial painting… so 6 jobs I held them all for atleast a year… a couple for much longer…most I could go back to if I was able…all were above minimum wage all were atleast 40 hours a week…the last job I was working 5 12 hour shifts followed by an 8 hour shift with only sunday off… ive also made money fixing computers but that’s more like a hobby I get paid for every once ina while…
