do any of you work…or when last did you hold down a job. Me: Ive been unemployed for the past 17 years and battling mental illness most of the time. How about you?
I work even though the repetitive nature of my job is starting to bore me to death. I am looking though for a new role with more challenges.
I work full time. My title has ‘Engineer’ in it.
But, I really haven’t had much in the way of recognizable symptoms for years, in my opinion. I was diagnosed as Paranoid Schizophrenic several years ago, and that was later changed to Schizoaffective.
I was first diagnosed with adjustment disorder in 2008; then delusional disorder in 2009; and then in 2010 it was changed to paranoid schizophrenia and the pdoc said I had met the criteria for sz in 2009. Since 2008 I have had seven jobs. In July of this past year I had to accept this illness and I ended my last job so I have been out of work about five months now. I hope to one day be able to return to work, we will see.
Haven’t been able do paid work fore about 14 years
However I like to work so I do two mornings at local charity shop
It is my hope to get paid work again
I am studying for degree at college which I hope to scrape through
been unemployed for over ten years unfortunately but trying to get back on my feet after a med change for the better.
Honesty settles well with me.
I have a job thanks to a friend.
I haven’t worked since 2002, when I tried to commit suicide at my last job. I was disabled by depression. I tried to apply for SSDI, but was turned down. My psychiatrist said they always turn you down at first, and then you have to hire a lawyer to appeal. She did not give me a lawyers name and number, though. When I applied again, after I had been diagnosed with psychosis, the therapist I was seeing at the clinic that I go to gave me the name and number of a lawyer, after the first denial. I successfully appealed, and got SSI, because I hadn’t worked in so long. I am, however, going to school now, and doing well at it. I still do not think that I could handle full time work, however.
I volunteer and looking for a paying job.
I’ve been at my janitor job for 4 years.
I have a job… flex schedule. Gardener/ Grounds keeper. Been at this job for almost 3 years. Going to school so I can transfer over to the green houses and work more with the community gardens.
what do you do for money?
I never stop working,my work is a low stress job,our tempo is slow just that the duration of work is long(12hrs a day),I feel good that I work and hopefully can continue
