I quit my meds like a year and a few months ago and been recovering from the relapse so far.
I still feel I’m not stable. Very high levels of anxiety. Not able to concentrate. Nervousness. Anhedonia. Social withdrawal and phobia.
How long for you until you started to see steady progress in your stability after quitting your meds?
About 2 months before I started being able to speak more than a few sentences in a day. 5 months until paranoia started becoming a passing thought. An animal companion helps.
I personally never stabilized((, just entered a psychosis. But my friend stabilized somehow, though not completely. Still she can work. She’s not been taking meds for about 5 years.
It’s been 2 months for me. I’m gaining stability. I still have zyprexa tablets on hand for the rough moments where I really need to sleep.
Most of psychosis is centered around some form of psychotic scenario. As soon as you learn to quit thinking about the scenario and you just accept that your a human being on the planet earth and the ■■■■ in your head isn’t real… That’s when you’ll start to get better. Find the blank state and find reality for yourself.
If you are in fact biogenetically and/or epigentically sz-ish and/or bipolar I, the answer is “never.” You will need the meds forever. That said, the meds are (slowly) getting “better” in terms of specific targeting, general effectiveness and freedom from gawdawful sfx.
I quit meds for the umpteenth time about two months ago. A week after taking no meds I was in a bad place and almost needed the hospital again if it weren’t that I had meds at hand. Once I resumed taking them I stabilised within two weeks to a month.
So, you;re asking how long it takes to RE-stabilize after going back on the meds? If that is the question, the answer is pretty typically, not that long based on my observation of the majority of pts I have gotten to watch. Some, however, have to be watched carefully and worked with because the stress they suffered from being off the med(s) “torqued” them enough to compel a new approach.
