So my pdoc and I lowered my Haldol from 30 mg to 20 mg a couple of months ago, to see if the lower dose would work out since it was making me so tired. Within six weeks, I was totally psychotic again.
The dose was put back to 30 mg starting 13 days ago. But I am still having symptoms. I heard voices in the middle of the night on Tuesday and then on Wednesday I was convinced a helicopter was landing on my roof to kidnap my cat. I’ve also had tactiles of bugs crawling on my on and off all week.
So how long does it take for my therapeutic levels to balance out at 30 mg again? I don’t think 13 days is enough time, considering I’d been at 30 mg for over two years prior to the dose reduction. But I’m tired of feeling bad. I see my pdoc again on August 1, just wondering what your experiences are. Thanks.
It took me like two to three months for the voices to go. I think this might even be the norm

I took me about a month to start feeling a little better.
Then I think things continued to improve over the next few months before things leveled out.

So I just need to be patient then. I kind of thought it would be that long. I’m just hoping the Haldol continues to work at 30 mg and I don’t have to go through the nightmare of changing meds. The atypicals give me massive weight gain so I like to stay old school.
Thanks for the replies!

I hope so. I’ve had another rough day today, no voices, but lots of paranoia and I haven’t really been awake at all because my meds make me so tired. I just want to throw a good old fashioned tantrum about how much I HATE schizophrenia, how much I HATE my meds and just how OVER all of this I am in general!!! It’s just so relentless and I am so beaten by it.
I don’t know how you function at 80 mg, my friend, 30 mg has been asleep 14 hours a day and laying in bed for longer still. Thanks for the reply and good wishes.
