I am going on eight years with Geodon. Been taking Latuda too for about a year or so.
10.5 yrs on the same drug and still okay
some meds are better for each individual. I have found that in the past - however if you have insight - keep up the same med
in a fragile state a meds change will probably send you into an episode
so just do what the docs advise! tell them all whatâs going on for you
120mg a day when I was hospitalized for 8 months. I saw the dosage in my medical chart. I may be wrong but I think they donât give dosages above 60mg a day now.
Bro that cant be right?? Prolixin?? Im on 4⌠I thought the max dosage was around 10 or 12
I was on them for a year when I was 17, then I was off them until 25. Since then I have been on them permanently for four years and had to change AP three times.
I hated Olanzapine because it made me too tired and fat. I was really angry I was put on that and left on 20mg for two years without a doctor lowering the dose. I went non-compliant and they tried Abilify, but that didnât work and I had a relapse. Since been on Latuda, but I stopped taking it for just a week or two and it has taken two months and still not stabilised again. I really donât want to come off Latuda now because I have lost 11kilos in the last 6 months and I want to get back to my original weight after being on Olanzapine for too long.
Since september 2011 - 5,5 years
Iâve been on APs for over 11 years now. Iâve been on Invega, Seroquel XR, Abilify, Haldol and a couple I canât remember. It seems they work for a while for me and then stop and I have to try something different.
do you think you got better or worse ?
Overall, I am doing better these days. I am currently on Abilify and doing well. I have had access to a good pdoc who really was able to make adjustments and changes that helped me, and I am thankful for that.

Iâve been on APâs since 1987. Thatâs 30 years. And no tardive.
Hi @Anonaccount
Glad to see you back on here
Four months and a half. Iâm actually enjoying my life these days. I feel like I can keep with the meds for another four, five, six months or so. Not forever, but for some time.
25 years 17 - 42 and onwardsâŚ
7 years approx abilify
Please disregard my answer if you didnât mean me,
Geodon worked until routine labs found my prolactin levels too high, MRI showed a âshadowâ on my pituitary, though the endocrinologist poo-pooâd the finding, my reg doc had to drop me me afterwards (spent too much time finding my problems?)âŚcome to find out a 1st cousin had a pituitary tumor removed recently, and now another cousin has one.
Haldol tablets 5mg also helped more than anything, but only when taken with Topamax 50mgs daily.
a few others. trilafon, prolixin were decent, nothing to write home about.
Depakote,Effexor XR,Risperidal,Stelazine, ZyprexaâŚjust about killed me with side effects, tortured is what comes to mind.
Iâve been on and off of APs for the past 14 years. Zyprexa was the first one I was tried on, and it worked well. I was on and off of that one for a few years. Seroquel was tried on me in 2008, but it caused akathisia. I was taking Haldol at one point, but I hated taking it, and after a while I just refused to keep taking it. I was on Latuda for a few months in 2012; I donât remember why I got switched to Abilify - I remember not liking the Latuda, just donât remember why. Abilify was great, but I had to go off it when it went generic in the U.S. in 2015 and my dr couldnât get free samples anymore. I was off APs for a year, until I started getting really sick again last May/June and got put back on Zyprexa. I couldnât tolerate it anymore (akathisia), and I got tried on the Aristada (aripiprazole) injection and now Abilify Maintena. The Abilify Maintena seems to be doing a pretty good job.
In the1980âs the procedure for people who were hospitalized was to heavily, heavily medicate them. I think this has changed.
