How long did it take to get diagnosis for you guys?

I waited over a month for results after the first long meeting.

After my first meeting it took about 3 months.

I was hospitalized when I got my diagnosis so pretty much right away.

I got 11 months of psychosis… and hospitalized then… and then it took me 3 months to recover after meds.

I was psychotic for a really long time before I ended up in a mental hospital, and I got diagnosed as soon as I got there.

I was in the hospital but they didn’t want to diagnosis me yet they said

I was hospitalized three times before I got a sz diagnosis, it was about 20 months or so. The DSM says you have to have symptoms for at least six months to get the diagnosis. But I should have gotten mine much sooner. That was always what it was.

It took my 16 years to get a diagnosis.

I was psychotic for almost three years, once i was hospitalized the attending pdoc said it was paranoid sz, then I got out of the hospital, a few months later it’s sza. Now we’ve been talking about bipolar with psychotic symptoms, but I don’t know, I used to think so but now I think not. Sometimes I have symptoms that aren’t triggered by mood issues. I don’t know, I’ll stick with the sza.

I was psychotic for two years. Got my dx after 6 months in hospital.

Saw my GP within 3 days of becoming unwell and got referred to the local EIP. Although I didn’t get sectioned and a diagnosis of paranoid schizophrenia for another year.

I was probably in the prodromal phase for about 7-8 months before.

I was in a mental institution for six months before they finally decided it Schizophrenia. I don’t know why it took so long. Maybe they knew earlier on but was trying to figure out what drugs worked best on me, I mean honestly I’d sit in a corner and talk to myself…I thought I was other people when I wasn’t, I thought I could speak to the dead and I can’t…I still have some of those same thoughts to this day but I know it’s all in my head and not real.
