I’ve been seeing my pdoc for 10 months, and I still have yet to receive some sort of diagnosis. How about you? How long did you see your pdoc before receiving a diagnosis?
Like a year I think.
The same day lol
Some pdoc don’t like to give diagnoses, others will diagnose you the first day they see you.
I am still undiagnosed…
I was one of those people they threw me in the psych ward by ambulance and cuffs and said “YOURE SCHIZOAFFECTIVE, NOW HERES A NEEDLE OF THORAZINE IN YOUR ASS, GO TO SLEEP” and I was like “nooooooooooooooo I’m innocent I swear, leave me alone, what does schizoaffective even mean btw???”
then 2 years later I realized maybe there was something odd about me the last 7 years or so and was pissed they labeled me something “schizoaffective” ive never heard of in my entire life!!! And didn’t bother explaining it to me either. They just put me on meds. I wish they had explained what the hell this illness means so I would have been more cautious. Then I became reckless thinking it was too late and I had gone too deep. Don’t be like me.
Something seems very wrong. You are not diagnosed, you have never had psychosis, but doctors give you antipsychotics since years??!!
Three days
1515
that seems to be the case. I asked my pdoc for a diagnosis, and she totally changed the subject by saying “the young people can’t handle a diagnosis” or something along those lines
Might want to find a different doctor. A diagnosis helps when getting disability and services. Sometimes doctors wait because of diagnosis of exclusion, ie they don’t want to diagnose you with SZ if it could be something less serious.
Andrey my psychosis was way milder…i have disorganised thought as a positive symptoms then i have almost all cognitive and negative symptoms thats the way i am qualified for sz…
My first pdoc never said anything about my diagnosis in 2 years, the second one gave me a diagnosis after 10 mins.
But it’s strange that you are still undiagnosed…
Yes andrey its matter of shame to me as well…
My diagnosis changed for about 2 years
My pdoc didn’t diagnose me. I was diagnosed by a team of psychologists and doctors who specialized in that area. It was part a research project. They also tested me in a lot of different ways, and I had to fill out some questionnaires. It took about two months.
At first, it was anexity. Then, serious depression. The good old days, as the saying goes.
It varied from doctor to doctor
For me, six years. I was first diagnosed with severe depression. Then, bipolar. Then, schizoaffective, bipolar type.
