What changes occurred after frequently talking to a.i.? I would expect it shifted your focus a lot. Would you say the changes are an improvement?
It doesn’t bother me. I think its a good thing but haven’t used it much.
Would you consider using it therapeutically for difficult episodes, or do you just use it for generic research?
Good and bad. Good in that it can provide pretty high quality therapy whenever you need it bad in that I’m terrified of doomsday scenarios.
I’ve only ever asked it a question.
Do you think catastrophising could be dangerous in some way, or is it more that it could be given power somehow?
A.i. still hasn’t really happened…very difficult to guess what’s going to happen when a.i. is more fully developed.
I think agi should be banned, it is just greed, it wouldn’t achieve more than we have. I’m mostly for that ai is good for us, no cons.
I dont think it has.
I read an interesting article about how the parameters of agi doing scientific research may be esoteric from a human perspective
In other words we won’t know why agi is researching what it is when it is. Making it difficult to keep tabs on
Breakthrough research happens all the time though, it would be no different. ( Edit - Deleted, no politics on the forum) I would have a hard time understanding law, although I could possibly grasp it if I gave it enough time, it is not a subject I find easy or within my preferred study area.
I’m not worried. Change is a part of life. The industrial era changed things, computers changed things, AI can change things. Ultimately, they are all tools that help us and, while they may alter the job market by eliminating certain roles, they do open up other roles.
Not at all. 151515
A lot of people are talking about us being on the precipice of having ai that can improve itself. I think there predictions have this happening in 2027. Self improving ai is by definition the singularity. Things become impossible to predict at this point.
I heard that over here there is investment in using it to treat patients in the future by using ai with a human avatar that the voice can be translated to any language. so no dr’s or nurses or therapists or counsellors just ai avatars over the internet.
Do you mean that catastrophizing could be dangerous in terms of putting it out there? Like ai is learning from catastrophic posts?
My wife is a consultant on implementing AI in K-12 education, which means she tells me about it a lot. Too much, really. I use AI to a limited extent, mainly because I know that it is something where, if you don’t know how to use it, you will be left behind professionally. I do like how it helps me analyze complicated policy docs more quickly at work.
I haven’t been affected too much mentally by AI yet. I just use it to answer questions i have but don’t replace my therapist or pdoc with it. I don’t use it for therapy cuz that’s a rabbit hole that might be hard to get out of if it goes awry.
Sometimes I use Chat GPT to help explore some of my thoughts before I’m ready to bring them up in therapy.
ChatGPT has been a big help.
I ask about dog food information and how much to feed my dog.
I also use it for whenever I need advice and info on other subjects.
