How does one cope with this illness? What should you do and how is your lifestyle?
I cope very well with sza. I handle it by going to all of my pdoc and nurse appointments and taking all of my meds religiously. I also have a lot of coping skills. Like keeping to a daily and weekly routine and going to church every week and having a prayer life. Also having yoga, meditation and piano practices help me tremendously.
How long did you have the condition?
Stay as low stressed as possible.
hey,
Some seriously good advice previous!
Early intervention with the appropriate medications leads to better outcomes.
Be honest with your treatment team. Seek psychiatrists over therapists. Therapists can be damaging if not skilled enough.
Stay low stressed…that is the key! Good call mikethecreator!
Take the pills…and be regular with them. Exercise if possible and do it religiously…as with the medications.
Connect…try to lead as normal a life as possible…talk more and interact with friends and family!

Finding the right meds helps a lot, also knowing that the voices and hallucinations aren’t real and it’s just your mind playing tricks on you.
I take my meds religiously and attend all of my doctor and nurse appointments like clockwork. I also keep a routine daily schedule of prayer, church attendance, and daily piano, yoga and meditation practices. I also read classic novels and magazines of interest, and own a loving cat.
I still struggle at times but I will not give up.
I cope by seeing my psychiatrist every 3 weeks and by taking my meds everyday.
I also manage to see a therapist every week.
I also cope by living a relatively low stress life.
If I am too stressed out this could easily destabilize me very quickly.
Well in my experience even when I am better I’m so disturbed and confused/disoriented by things I experienced when I was psychotic it’s like I can never really separate from it.
Sleep is important. All the other generic improve your lifestyle advice that no one follows or takes seriously even though it actually makes a huge difference. Stay on meds and don’t play with doses. No illicit drugs. I’m sure you’ve heard it all before.
It’s important to be healthy mentally and physically so I’d encourage getting out of bed to do one active thing like cleaning or swimming every day, keep connecting with friends or finding a social outlet, and doing some reading or intellectual activity. It’s also important to have a big picture of what you want to do. When I was young I always thought it was important to have no regrets so if you want to have a family, do something good for your community, or travel the world, you should make plans for how to achieve that as well.
I hear voices to but I don’t have audio hallucinations unless I stay up all night
