Last month I received an injectable Abilify, which I took to replace oral meds, but within 3 weeks I was experiencing full-blown psychosis and at the climax of it I was completely catatonic, worse than I’ve ever been before, and my mom took me to the hospital and they deemed me grossly disorganized and gravely disabled.
How the hell did I get to this point if I didn’t even go off my meds?
when I took an injectable invega sustenna, they kept me on invega pills. The meds didn’t help but I think the pills kept me from becoming full blown psychotic. I went to another pdoc to get a second opinion and they put me on Haldol instead of invega.
In 35 years I’ve had two serious relapses despite the fact that I have taken my meds faithfully almost every day. Taking medication does not guarentee that you will not relapse but it will lessen the chances. I don’t know why you relapsed. Maybe stress? Maybe you aren’t on the right dosage or maybe you need to be on a different med altogether but these are issues that you should take up with your doctor. I’m sorry you relapsed, I know it’s hell. But hey, look at the bright side. At least you are functioning enough to use a computer.
Good for you. You can beat this. It’s just a setback but it’s not permanent. It may be miserable for awhile but a lot of us relapse and we just pop back up and get stable again.
