I would hope the doctors
consider it rare, and infrequent to diagnose this disorder.
Don’t recall growing up knowing one single schizophrenic.

about 1 % of the world has it @Daze
i hope so,
its just a bitter pill to swallow and i need to swallow it twice a day before meals
Some quick facts about schizophrenia:
Schizophrenia can be found in approximately 1.1% of the world’s population, regardless of racial, ethnic or economic background.
I just wondered if that is a doctor’s diagnosis only,
or those who just don’t know yet, or deny it, or
just those being treated for it.
Only 1% of total population are unfortunate …!!!
i believed its just the diagnosed @Daze …
I had the conversation with a MH worker the other day
I must say I’ve never known a schizophrenic, in person. I haven’t met a lot of people and these days don’t meet new people at all. As far as I know, I’ve never even seen a schizophrenic (unless I look at my own reflection).
I believe, however, if there was a schizophrenic in the same room as me or whatever, I may able to detect his/her schizophrenia by observing him/her. I probably would have an antennae to see.
I’ve never known or encountered anyone with schizophrenia except in the mental hospital. I would like to though. I think that I could be friends with someone who has schizophrenia because I have schizoaffective and we would have things in common.
1in every 100 has it they say. I once visited a group home for low functioning schizophrenics. There I saw quite a couple of shizophrenics sitting outside against the wall whilst smoking. I had a meeting with the manageress to find out if I could join in with their occupational therapy classes and other stuff they do. I also asked to volunteer for any jobs they seeked help with. They said that they will get back to me but they never did. I also did not feel comfortable to approach them again.
I also briefly met a friend of my niece who was a high functioning schizophrenic. She held a 9 to 5 job and drove to work by herself every day.
