How bad is racism really?

I was listening to Michael Jackson “they don’t care about us” song. I didn’t realize that racism against African-Americans was still bad. We have mixed race people in my family so I never thought about it at all. But it seems a presume that it’s still going on pretty bad. Or Michael Jackson would not have written a song like that.

@cigarino Do you experience racism?

Racism has always been a problem
It’s an international issue

@HollyHobbie @Voithos I’m wondering if this topic may be political now that I think of it. So if you want if you think it’s political you can close it. I just was curious about it

Racists are usually looked down upon by their own peer group, so they have to go outside of their own culture to denigrate those from other cultures.

Another name for them? Losers.

We’ve come a long way but there are still issues as always. It will never go away completely because there will always be ■■■■■■■■.

I feel bad for how naïve I am about it.

I experienced a lot of racism in a multicultural place such as New York. On the other hand, I met some wonderful, open-minded people as well.

The majority in any country always has some segment of the population that will look diwn upon the minorities. Whether its race , religion , culture or whatever.

For that matter, differences in general or sometimes looked down upon regardless of majority or minority.

The problem when its in the majority is that it is generally more dangerous to the minority because often the majority has power. This is not always the case, but often.

This will probably always be the ccase unless u believe that we will reach a utopian siciety at some point.

Anyway, those are my thoughts.

I’ve been told to “go back to china where you belong” on occasion.

Where I live is very segregated and the races clash. It’s very upsetting. I really wish people could be kinder and more open

Now most tv have stopped ads on fairness.

In the 90’s we used to be like ! Fair is everything.

The main question in the ad how did the hair color changed :person_shrugging:

I’m gonna set a timer on this one, because, while not against the rules, I can see it leading to fights and posts that do break rules. The mod team doesn’t have the time today to keep a close eye on this thread to stomp out rule breaking

Well, I set the timer. It usually shows up as having been set. I guess I’ll see if it worked.

our universe knows our hearts

In my opinion USA is obsessed with the concept of race.

If you ask that to a Cuban or PR they won’t even understand what’s the big deal :man_shrugging:

I’ m entertaining the possibility that some of my distant relatives may have been slave owners. I have a group of 8 related black cousins all sharing at least 20 cMs with me. All have some minor European ancestry. One way I can see a connection is through a slave owner(or his son) fathering a child with a slave.
