How are my UK friends doing?

I saw today that there was a snowstorm in the UK and that some airports are closed.

How are you all managing?

My parents were due to land from Copenhagen last night at the airport south of London.

They ended up in Liverpool!

Got home just now and had to get a taxi back.

The airline should pay for it

I hope they do

But yea, I am ok with it. Just having the heating on more at the moment, as it has got to -4c here, and we usually don’t get it as bad on the coast

Thanks for checking in with us @anon17326926 - hope all is well in Belgium!

Slight scattering of snow here on the south coast. Its about -2 . I havent been out

Couldn’t they take the train? Sounds like a taxi from Liverpool to the South coast would have cost a small fortune.

It was £450 for a taxi

Train wanted £192 per person and they would have had to wait for the morning

They said quite a few planes were diverted to that airport, so there was literally hundreds of people trying to book trains, hotels, cabs and coaches

The airline (EasyJet) did nothing to arrange travel back. Awful service

You would have thought they get a load of coaches and get people home!

That’s the most expensive taxi ride I’ve ever heard of.

And low-cost airlines are notorious for their crappy service. Probably they will claim ā€˜Force Majeure’.

Looks like they didn’t have any good options.

I’m doing ok. There are quite a few mothers in the UK worried re Strep-A and the availability of antibiotics.

Thanks for thinking of me.

But I may or may not reside in the UK. I like to keep it mysterious :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I am doing well, thanks @anon17326926

I noticed the ice slush when I took the rubbish out and a slight dusting of snow outside. Snug and warm in my new aviation suit. I even put the heating on for a few hours in the evening

I hope you are doing well and looking forward to Christmas?

I don’t have much planned for Christmas. But I did go to our Christmas market yesterday.

I thrive better in warmer weather. That’s all I have to say.

All these people complaining about cold and it’s not just the uk , it’s even middle east and africa and i’m just like , come check out our canadian winters

I wouldn’t be able to live in Canada. I have sensitive skin and asthma. I would just perish in -30C.

I do have to correct myself. I wouldn’t be able to live in most parts of :canada:. Vancouver would be an exception with its milder climate.

Its not great but its funny when you think about how mild our ā€œcoldā€ is compared to Canada etc.

I have been keeping warm
IE spending a lot of money on heating lol!
