“Can you be sure to hit the bathrooms tonight? I don’t think they got done on Sunday, and I don’t know how much time you had last night to do them. Pat said they were pretty messy this morning.”
Me: “That’s bull-sh-it! I did a thorough job on the restrooms. And why isn’t she vacuuming the main hallway and lobby during the day?”
She’s there 8 hours. I’m there for 4 hours. Don’t even start it with me bit-ch, you won’t find a better worker than me. I’m not going to let this get to me, but it kinda is. I go in every time he needs me, not even on my scheduled days, and includes again tonight.
If I had an employee respond to a coaching by swearing at me, I would not feel especially confident in that employee. Now you know that their standards for cleaning the bathroom are higher than you previously thought. They weren’t trying to hurt you. They were trying to teach you.
I didnt mean to upset you. You asked for help seeing that it was no big deal. Part of having a job is making mistakes and then learning from them. You are still new. It will take a while for you to figure out exactly how they like things. That is okay, and doesn’t make you a bad employee. It makes you a new employee who is still learning.
Looks like I’ll be working every night this week, not sure about Sun though. Knowing my attitude right now, I’m going to work the full 5 hours, and that means when Pat gets there at 6:30 a.m., the place will be immaculate, and there is no 3rd shift callers, everyone is gone by 8 or 9 o’clock. If this makes everyone’s life easier, well, great! I sure as hell hope I don’t go over income. I haven’t worked in well over 2 years. It’s nothing though, I like the job, and it’d be worse somewhere else.
