Hip Hop Therapy

Hi there,

I haven’t been on here in ages but I’ve been working away on music ever since, I even linked up with Jeroen who is on here and we make music together since too.

There’s nothing better than writing a cool song or designing a nice bit of artwork, getting lost in it , getting in the zone where its all that matters and then putting it out and people loving it.

It can get the better of people in this game when you get like 10 or 20 views on a song or a project, after putting so much time into it seemingly for nothing, but I be grateful even 10 people listened and I know Ill get places, the odd fail here or there is still worth a try when your sharing with the world.

I’ve got my website up and running for a year now: https://willygmusic.com/ I’m really proud of how its all layed out and everything (I spent ages on it) and I love to get people checking it out and listening to my stuff. People tell me things like “ your the best emcee in Ireland” and “ People talk about you at parties, your iconic”, I’m not bragging but just saying its a real confidence booster and feels good, all from sitting down and writing some rhymes, making a few songs and having fun with it.

Do check the site out, I’ve filled it with my music.

Here is me and Jeroen’s most recent song “ Someone Save Me” which is about going through psychosis on meds ( a scary experience), and holding in there and beating it on your own.

Hope you enjoy!

Schizophrenic’s Anthem should be the name of this song. Very good stuff.

Thanks Loke! That’s exactly what I thought once I got it all mixed and finished and put it out haha!

I’m just lucky I was still able to write rhymes and make music while I was going through it, I’ve been even further down the psychosis wormhole in the past and could only scribble gibberish.

During the psychosis that inspired this song I managed to keep my head and just observe and document. I think it’s really useful to do that for everyone with our condition to try figure out what is going on with us

They should put that song in a movie like The Soloist. It really describes us well. People who don’t have SZ would understand more just by listening.

Never heard of that movie before, just checked the trailer it looks pretty good, must give it a watch!

Yeah I’m trying to spread awareness and represent for SZ in a real way with my music to try end stigma and stuff but its tough!

A lot of the time it’s hard to get heard by people.
